Happy Hallowe'en everyone!

I took a break from the Chaos Warriors (almost done though...) to paint a spooky old model from Lead Mountain. Presenting: Luthor the Hunchback.

Different sort of update today. Because, friends, I'm now living the dream!

Behold, a glass display cabinet, with a shelf devoted to WHQ, and professionally printed backdrops!

Each shelf has a different theme. So far I've got WHQ and Harry Potter. Need to get a few more minis painted and potentially making a superhero shelf, but that's for another thread :)

The right place for such a fine collection! I assume you put some more glass shelves in?

The right place for such a fine collection! I assume you put some more glass shelves in?

It has 4 sections, each one a glass cube, so I'm going for a different hobby project in each one.

First proper faction update for ages. I'm finally tackling Chaos in the Old World!

First up, the ubiquitous Chaos Warriors (I'll need 6 more eventually, but these will do for a while).

Something about these models. They're too uniform for my liking, but they do look menacing, and they're really lovely to paint! I went for a classic colour scheme of black and gold (using Darren Latham's excellent YouTube tutorial for painting black armour) rather than pick a Chaos Power. I plan to paint a bunch of god-specific Champions, so these guys need to look good alongside any of those.

Close up on one:

Like those a lot!  :-*

The blue highlight of the black armor really makes them pop!

They look great, but yes, very uniform for chaos lol

Thanks!

they're slightly turquoise in the flesh - camera balance not quite right I guess. The technique I learned, which blew my mind a bit, was to do all the blends with blue-greys, then at the end make a glaze out of turquoise Contrast Paint. It smooths out the blends and provides a colour tint all in one. I've finally found a use for contrast paints!

Painted the first of my classic metal Chaos champions. Started with Slaanesh (because I'm weird like that).

I bloody love these old models. The thing about this one in particular is that, once you get paint on it, it becomes considerably more risqué that you realised. 'Oh, they aren't trousers, they're skin... Oh, that armour is actually a corset in the shape of a half naked tortured person... Oh, he's got a bell hanging in front of his... *cough, cough*' lol

Oo-er, missus! They certainly have a strong sense of narrative!

Here's the back view. Excuse the thong!  lol

Yeah, that's a really classic champion figure - great paintwork on it!

Wow! Great job. He's one of my all-time favorite champions. I have two, and I have never painted them. Was waiting until I got good enough I guess!
