The antithesis of Batman? Of course, I’m talking of Joker, the ultimate villain in the comic book world. He actually has no super power abilities, he’s just a clever guy, liking Chemistry and some fun causing chaos on regular basis in the city of Gotham. Maybe a bit insane. Though I think I would be insane too, after a bath in a vat of chemicals. Did you know that Joker made his first appearance in the Batman #1 and was planned to be killed and forgotten again? Not an easy matter, I guess, somehow he did manage to stay alive and become the main adversary for Batman. Pretty persistent, isn’t he?

Sticking together this particular Heath Ledger version wasn’t that difficult, I only had to stick his hand with the gun on his arm, fortunately everything else wasn’t cut off by the moulding crew (thank you guys, much appreciate!) I painted him using the “official” Joker colour scheme, so green hair, purple coat and so on.

Admittedly, while preparing him I was thinking of changing the scheme and paint his clothes black but to be honest I just didn’t have the courage to do that. Like mentioned, Joker and his friends supposed to be the crew of my daughter and she likes him as he is, insane face and insane colours of outfit. Maybe next time. When I’m going to make my personal Joker :)

And the crew so far:

Though somehow the painting job hasn’t become as nice as I would wish. No idea why, perhaps too many folds on the coat, or maybe too much expectations on that. Anyway, he’s finished. And just for fun, I’ve got some versions of the Heroclix Joker, hilarious sculpts, I’ve thought I’m going to share them with you here. I don’t think I will ever be painting them but it’s nice to owe them :)

That’s for now and I’m off to the next one…

Great stuff Prof., I think that painting him black would have lost the creepiness look.

Look forward to seeing the "man"

You need to focus, indeed! The B-Man will need some support against all the bad guys made (hopefully!) by our friends

Good point, Phil! Thanks

"Did I tell you how I got these scars?" ;)

He looks great, a perfect incarnation of Heath ledger. ;D

I remember when I first saw pictures of him in the Joker make up I was at that point disappointed as to how he looked. Now having seen the film a number of times I love his version.

Its going to be hard in my opinion for anyone stepping into the role to come up with a differnt take and make him as believable.

Absolutely, Nick, I'm with you on that one. I always loved and still love Jack Nicholson as Joker but he was just funny and cool. Heath Ledger showed what real madness and creepiness is all about.

I recently found one of the Joker clix in my box of junk. I never realized he was holding FISH in his hands. It's so random, but would probably paint up quite nicely.

I think the Ledger sculpt is a mixed bag. It does capture the character quite well, but in terms of being a dynamic sculpt it's sort of lacking. He's worth adding to the collection however, as I hear it plays quite differently from the starter set Joker.
