Bonjour!

3 years ago, I found that an old friend had kept my lead pile from the 70s. I finally got round to prepping 150+ old Dragontooth figures, and here are some of the results.

For these Ranidean Javelineers, I tried to go for a "poison dart frog" effect:

I also ran across this Frazetta giant in his 70s original paint job. Gotta redo that one! Those staring eyes almost make me think he's got an Innsmouth thing starting.

Edit: I think I finally figured out how to post images from Google Drive...

Cheers,   --- Phil from France

Fantastic Phil! Finally someone else who likes Dragontooth! What else have you got? I'm desperately looking for the Thor and Kali large figures. I do love this old school stuff!

Hi Phil!

They look great!  Hope you post more of these guys.  I never got to own any minis from this company, but I barely remember seeing the packaging.

Cracking old school figures. I didn't have these back in the day but am keen to get some now....that giant is great and reminds me of the Asgard sculpts I did (and still do) have.

OK, I finally got back from hols and did the bases of the Ranidean Javelineers. And since it was so nice, took a walk down by the stream behind my house...

Somehow, static pictures don't seem to do justice to the "poison dart tree frog" effect I was going for on these Ranideans. Maybe with a better camera.

Also dug out a "Ranidean Champion", more of a crocodilean really, don't recall what it was originally called, so maybe someone here can help. It's got my original late-70s paintjob, but hey, there's too much unpainted lead in the leadpile to redo every blessed son of them.

I'm almost ashamed to post my work after seeing some of the stunning painted figures posted on these boards, but as these are rare 70s-vintage figures, I guess I'll dare to be seen. <g>

Some awesome old minis here! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection. The colours scheme on the Ranidean skirmishers is perfect. That huge beast the champion is riding must be one heavy chuck of lead! :)

They look great!
And for a second I thought that background was some incredibly realistic terrain.

I like the fat lizard thing, he looks like he just ate a few or a dozen goblins and has a tummy ache.   lol

That spot on the riverbank will probably become my go-to place for miniature photos. But with the lizard-man theme going, having marshy terrain in the background works on so many levels.

Last week I received my first movement trays ever from Warbases (http://war-bases.co.uk/) in the UK. Brilliant work they do, and I love some of the odds & ends they sell alongside. Anyway, I figured the skirmishers should be based in open order, so only four to a tray of eight, and thought I'd texture the vacant spots a bit, to enhance the swampy feel. It's also the first time I've used standing grass, cut from an old paintbrush. The wonders I've seen on these boards have inspired me to go beyond the basics. Thanks to one & all!

Their eyes blinking in the bright sunlight, our intrepid adventurers exit the vile catacombs, into a broad jungle.
"Look out, Trevor! There's a viper hiding below that giant mushroom!"

Having made short work of the viper, Trevor scales the mushroom, only to clap eyes on a mustering army.
"Quiet, everyone, we don't want to draw their attention!"

Rank after rank of the lizardman army emerged from the mist.
Pikemen...

Halbardiers flanked by Lizardfolk champions...

Another unit of halbardiers with standard bearer, musician and sergeant...

And there was the Crocodilian general. How could Trevor and his doughty band get out of this fix?

Love the setting - that mushroom looks absolutely poisonous!
