Warlord Placcy Gauls
« on: July 22, 2015, 10:16:58 PM »
These have sat a long time in my cupboard, but I recently bought some LBMS transfers to try out, and in addition to some medieval transfers I also got some for these minis. Still learning how to use the transfers, these were especially tricky with the bossing being so complex. It was kinda hard to get them to fit, especially with the backing paper blocking the view. I had to do fix them a bit with paint. But not too bad for my second try with these transfers, I think?

I am not sure what I think of the minis, they're maybe a tad too dynamic as far as posing goes? Especially those two dodging types which are almost bent double. Makes fitting shields a bit tricky as well. Detailing is pretty good though, as far as plastics go. Certainly not the worst in that regard. A bit too muscular as well what with the sixpacks and all? I guess I originally bought these for making a chaos warrior types with a little less crazy musculature (as opposed to the GW ones which are frankly ridiculous). There aren't too many weapon choices with the sprues either, swords, daggers and spears, that's it, except for standards and a big horn.

Oh yes, and the dogs are just along for the ride. I painted them at the same time, to be used as general big doggies.

You've done a great job with the transfers. I agree with you regarding the good detail  but overly defined physiques and that they are a pain to rank up the 'cookie cutter' pose ones.
Saying that I did buy a few boxes of the germanic versions. I used the last few that didn't make it into the units as conversions for casualty markers, plastics are great for conversions.

The detailing on the trousers is impressive.   8)
