Just to let everyone know Chris Pringle has uploaded a draft scenario for The Battle of Ostrolenka 1831. This was one of the larger battles of The November Uprising.

Currently working on getting together the necessary scenery items...buildings will be either scratchbuilt or from Charlie Foxtrot models, S & A scenic river sections, I hope to commission The Terrain Tutor to help with hills and marsh areas.

Working on the first line of sight bases, the model is an East European shed from Charlie Foxtrot Models with applied coffee stirer timber details...

Gradually making inroads into the buildings I need, still a long way to go!

Got the beginning of a nice little village
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I saw some buildings like yesterday as I'm out in Kazakhstan at the moment. A little more modern perhaps, with tin sheets rather than the plank or tiled roof, but some were obviously quite old. You've got the silvery grey colour spot on.

I wish I could say I had but the buildings are more brown than grey, its a trick of the light but I will be doing some more in keeping with an aged appearence.

An interesting observation in scenery building when looking at grand scale wargaming, is the fudging of scales.....for BBB a 4inch round with a structure on It may represent an outlying village or town outskirts where as a 6 inch square  with a structure on  it represents main town built up areas, accordingly if needing to model a specific building such as the monastery means the building will be abnormaly small in foot print. Keep in mind one infantry base represents 1000 men......
I hope my plans work visually we will have to see.

Working on a bell tower as part of the central town. For information base size is 6 by 6 inches , I have includec a couple of 28mm figs just to give you guys an idea of scale. Will be adding roof slates to tranceps.

Good work there.

I hear what you're saying about scale and size.  In my own games I have used 4 15mm buildings arranged in a walled field (from Last Valley) as a town. As an abstract it works, and matches the scale of the game. As the buildings are physically taller than the mini's it's an ok deception.

My tip would be to try and keep your buildings to the table edge as scenery rather than centre stage as terrain if possible. Other than that there's little you can do.

However what ever you do I'm looking forward to seeing everything on the table and some shots of a game.

The first will be getting all the terrain together and then seeing how it looks on the table.

Map of the battlefield for BBB , this scenario was designed for a 6ft by 6ft table but can be transferred onto the standard 4 by 4 format for smaller scales
