The Mjalnar Anachronism - a 30K vs. 40K AAR
« on: January 13, 2016, 06:35:14 AM »
Words buzzed through the static. A ship had suddenly appeared out of the warp near the space station Mjalnar. It was an old Torture class Frigate, likely a chaos ship.

"Prepare the orbital lasers," said Wolf Lord Svein, "blast that ship to pieces."

More words came through the static.

"Wait!" came a cry from behind Svein.

He turned with some disbelief in his eye. It was Rune Priest Boru.

Svein's quizzical look was turning to anger as he looked at his fellow Space Wolf and long time friend.

"The words, they are Old Fenrisian," Boru said, "there are Space Wolves on that ship."

"Get me a visual on it, now," said Svein.

As soon as the visual came up they could see the blue and white markings on the ship. They could see the symbol of the planet on the side surrounded by red teeth.

"That is a World Eater vessel," said Svein.

"In their old colours," said Rollo.

A small boarding party had assembled at that time including dreadnought Krofki. Through his vox system he said, "That ship must be 10,000 years old, or near it. If there are Space Wolves on board . . ."

The voice trailed off.

"Could they be . . . Could they be 13th company?" asked Wolf Guard Sgt. Tryggva.

"We're going to find out," said Svein. "Everyone aboard the strike cruiser."

Here are some preview pictures:

This was my first game using my Betrayal At Calth figures in an actual 40K game.  We used some hybrid of 3rd/7th edition because I can't be bothered to read all of the 7th edition rules and I know the 3rd edition rules.  We added running, overwatch and all the special rules and left everything else 3rd edition.

It was a pretty fun game.  I've got a big Age of Sigmar game that I'm putting on next month so until then I'll be painting Nurgle, Slaanesh, Khorne, Beastmen and Stormcast stuff flat out but after that I'll probably buy another Calth boxed set and make myself some regular tactical squads.

I like the terrain I see myself! Always a sucker for good looking terrain!
