Popular periods and Ranges.

As the title says, what periods are topping the charts. And what figure ranges are your favourites. Times seem to change where some periods take a back seat. The English Civil war does not appear to be very popular at the moment.

We're doing a lot of English Civil War at the moment funnily enough. We're also playing Old West and Napoleonic skirmish. We don't tend to play what the cool kids are playing though! Frostgrave looks to be a popular choice at the moment. I'd be very tempted as I could get my old fantasy models out, but my group would be unlikely to go for it; they're strictly historical!

I am doing Agincourt with Lion Rampant and Perry figures - as it is the anniversary.

I am also doing moderns with Empress and Spectre figures using Force on Force.

I am expanding my GW LOTR & Hobbit figures to play skirmishes with Lion Rampant and later Dragon Rampant.

I do see a lot of mentions, on the forums, about Bolt Action for WW2 and Frostgrave for Fantasy.

At present focusing on Pulp...

But also playing Crusades with Lion Rampant & VBCW with Bolt Action

Just bought the Frostgrave rules so no doubt this will feature

Wanting to return to French Indian Wars & Saga at some point in time...

I think Colonial/Victorian might be the next big project...

Soo many periods...not enough time >:(

ECW has probably taken a hit due to some of the political/social issues flying around in the US right now. Your question is actually a very interesting one, but I wonder if it's also a nigh-unanswerable one.

In my city if I were to base things on what I see, I'd say X-Wing and Blood Bowl are the top two miniature games being played. I sometimes see 40k and WarmaHordes getting played as well. If it were based on what I see people buying, that would probably be X-Wing, 40k and more recently Age of Sigmar.

I flit from game to game, range to range quite a bit. Or at least I did. In the past year I've really zeroed back into superhero gaming, largely thanks to the release of the Batman printed rules and Pulp City 2nd edition. The Terminator game release also was high on my list, which I've purchased but not yet played. We still play a lot of Strange Aeons, largely due to my proximity to Uncle Mike's secret lab.

Did you mean ACW instead of ECW?  ???

Funnily enough, I'm just starting an ACW project. There goes my reputation as an ueber-PC killjoy.  lol

The period I enjoy most still is medieval - Sharp Practice WotR has been joined by El Cid with Lion Rampant, and both games are still regulars on our gaming table. I also recently got into napoleonics with Sharp Practice and might get roped into Blucher.

For once, it seems I'm doing what the cool kids do.  :D

Arthurians/Migration era early dark ages are my main thing (occasionally with some mythic elements, which I guess would cross the border into fantasy), with post apocalyspe and moderns being my 'backup' generes :)

You can redeem yourself by digging up info on an all-woman African-American unit maybe?  ;)

For me it's principally Late Medieval, Spanish Civil War and Post-WWII 'small wars'... I've found the hobby is far cheaper when nobody makes figures for what you want, so I can happily run with the last of the three.

 ;)
