Well done, and well done for picking a heavy brigade character over light.  A few small problems though, first gen Scarlett had a unique helmet which in the painting he sat for by Francis grant(in which he wore his Balaklava gear) has a very dark even black shell over which is fixed gilt decoration. He wears no greatcoat and the observers on saopune could identify him among the great coated Russians during the heavy brigade charge.
His boots were worn under his trousers. The bottom of his trousers were reinforced with leather which could look like knee high boots from a distance I suppose.
That being said he could have worn a greatcoat on other occasions, indeed he probably did. Same goes for boots over his trousers.
I understand I'm being a donkeys ass here so I'll say again I like the figure, interesting and has a better paint job than I could do.
Um,I just checked(I've got nearly fifty Crimean war books)it appears he had a substantial amount of chin hair.
Just ignore me,seriously a few months ago I sent a email to the BBC(or was it ch5)about a documentary that claimed the hyksos introduced the compound bow to Egypt. I once had a date with one if my sisters friends in which I made her watch the 1969 charge of the light brigade. At every mistake I paused it and explained what really happened. I told her I would do the same with Zulu but she dumped me. Seriously.

I appreciate your observations and corrections....The back story on the figure is that I needed a Scarlett figure.  I thought I had one of the Foundry figures but didn't.  I attended Historicon looking specifically for a Scarlett figure...still no luck.  So...rather than pay for an entire pack of Foundry British command figures, I decided a conversion was in order.  The head is from an old Stadden figure, filed and altered to fit.  The main portion of the figure is a staff officer from the Great War Crimean line of figures.  I wanted something different and opted for the great coated figure (Russian winters being what they are, I had to think at some point he wore an overcoat).  I did see that it seemed a common practice for officers to wear trousers over a short boot.  But again, I opted for what I thought looked unique.  As far as the helmet goes, I had read that the helmet was steel with bronze fitting.  As for the chin whiskers...I will just pretend that he has them neatly tucked into the collar of the overcoat that he shouldn't be wearing.   ;)

A shame about your date....It's difficult to find a lady who appreciates the finer points of historical accuracy.

I've been trying to find a modern picture of Scarlett's helmet but no luck. I've got all the good Crimean war uniform books from Gerry embaltons book published by almark in 1975(older than me)right through to this years partizan press book on the Turkish Crimean war uniforms but no modern pics of Scarlett's helm so far. I'm a member of the Crimean war research society so I'll ask other members online,if I find a pic of it I'll let you know.
If you wat any info on Crimean at stuff just ask my email is petergooseboo@gmail.com

Thanks Chuck....that is the photo I used as a reference.  I appreciate it!

I agree about the Stadden figures.  They actually fit quite well with 28mms and are so elegant.  I have quite a few Stadden Russians.  It's a shame the line isn't more extensive.
