The Battle for Kew - The Times. *Part two more photos.*

Prussian units advance slowly towards to front

Flamethrower armed Prussians move forward

Prussian Impervious suits lay down heavy firepower with Gattling guns from the cover of the tree line

The British centre was held by the heavy brigade; a Guards unit with armoured troopers with steam guns and the Impervious suits of Captain Roger Boyes, Grenadier Guards. They were successful in repulsing several stalwart Prussian assualt units.

The guards advance past the gatekeepers cottage at the entrance to the gardens

A peculiar incident occured when a young Prussian officer climbed out of his Impervious suit after it was destroyed  and proceeded to continue his fight armed only with a revolver. "He was a brave fellow, it was a shame we had to shoot him." Remarked a private in the Midddlesex regiment. "But he just wouldn't surrender."

Over on the left flank, things were also improving as the British and Prussian infantry traded shots from the cover of cornfields.Fortunately superior British marksmanship was telling and the Prussian casualties began to increase.

The final push forward.

One of the most heroic actions of the day occured when the British central advance floundered under massive enemy bombardment. The Khasi of Kalibar sensing a possible Prussian breakthrough, charged the Queens own Kalibar Lancers straight at the heart of the Prussian advance. Sadly his troops were all killed to the man including the Khasi himself. A targic, but most deserving and heroic act. There are calls for the postumous award of the Victoria Cross to the Khasi. Here, here echoes this humble correspondent.

Heavily armed Prussian tanks such as this one continually bombarded our troops.

Major Hugh Jorgans of the Royal Surrey Regiment looks on as the Prussians begin to retreat leaving scores of wounded and dying men strewn across the park. Brave fellows indeed these Prussians.

So dear reader there you have it. A complete unabridged version of the events at the siege of Kew. Never has the mettle of the British army been tested so much by such a gallant foe...Gaud Save the Queen!

What next I hear you cry, what will happen to the retreating Prussian Army. There are reports of fresh Prussian reinforcements diembarking at Dover this very day. The war is far from over yet....

Figures and armour again from the Collections of Messrs Thunderchicken, Bullshott and Malamute.

again, very nice.

What it is missed is the heroic journalist & photographer's picture of  him in the action!

The Indians are lovely, too!

Malamute... Sir, will you please desist with your cunningly scripted battle reports.

Good God, Man.  I've already bookmarked all the VSF miniatures sites I know of and the next thing you know... I'll actually start buying.

Desist I tell you... Desist!

Please... I beg you.

Fantastic stuff! An inspiration to us all!

How many figures were used in the battle in total?

Umm,  I guess we fielded 100 - 120 per side, plus armour and independent units like the Thunderer  and the character figures etc.

Great report Nick. I'm glad you can remember all thet happened. I lost track of things, being so busy running the game and keeping things moving.

Must get some more standard troops for the Prussians.

I wondered whether a sticky thread for vsf of where you can get minis from etc... would be good.

or is it that most figures are heavily converted?

What do you think?

that report is really good, the kew building fantastic and the battle report truly amazing. :o
