Italian carabinieri for VSF?
« on: October 30, 2008, 11:11:12 AM »
As I advised previously, I am on the process to build my own VSF armies.

I need a couple of full dress Italian carabinieri officers & NCO, is there any suggestion for suitable 28mm figure?

Thanks in advance!

What about Anglian Miniatures?

These are in later dress. Sure I've seen some earlier ones somewhere though....can't think where.

I have in mind those full dress carabinieri, in bicorns. long tails epaulettes  etc,
they wear it even to these dates, but alas, the above are not suitable.

I think the most suitable would be something from Garibaldi era.

Hmmm, Mirliton do some for 1859, but they may be too early for you:

I thought so, and yesterday I spend the whole day looking at their catalogue. Unfortunately they do not have anything suitable. Since they do not have photos of their whole range I might need to ask.

That's a shame!

You may have to go down the "conversion" route. That may be a bit daunting if you need large numbers  :(

Might be a bit late in the period but Redoubt have just released  some Boxer rebellion Bersaglieri (no pictures when I last looked)

They will probably be in campaign dress, like Bicorne's, but may be convertable to full dress. At least the weapons and equipment would be better for VSF.

I've looked about for you... without success.

I figure you need a basic figure with double epaulets and a shell jacket to start.  The only country I know that has these are French, and I looked about at Napoleonic artillerymen and Foreign Legion but I couldn't find a suitable base figure from which to mod (your basic head change).

I think you have a tough one here... best of luck.
