Welcome Morray and thank's for the excellent question. I believe one of the keys to Frostgrave's rocketing success is a desire from many folks to get some use out of fantasy figures they've had laying around for some time. Figures that have been waiting for the just right rules system. I suspect that if you had the ability to peer into LAF members cupboards you'll find a combination of Northstar and other manufactures figures making up their warbands. And that I think is best for wargaming as a whole.

I'm new here so excuse the curiosity/naivety, if we want Frostgrave to do well and progress should we not be encouraging people (on basically the only forum online) To be buying the minis that are official for the game?

It seems everyone is buying up Reaper Bones miniatures which doesn't support Osprey in any way shape or form.

Am I wrong? ???
I'm on the lookout for alternatives because I personally dislike all of the official figures. I have the rules in hardback, so am supporting the company who produces them.

Just another point to think about.

Also, in my opinion, there was not even a whiff of hostility/pushy-ness towards you here. But I admit to having a very thick skin.

My reason for starting this post was not intended to hurt a company.  I bought all the figures from the Nickstater but I did not really care for them (well at least not the plastic soldiers) the were to small for most of what I have.  I just offered alternatives for those who wish to use other figures.  I do Have part of one of the soldiers going to join a warband he is being used as a dwarf.

I'm using a mix of old GW and Grenadier minis in the main, although my bestiary has quite a few of the Northstar line.
