Earth Elemental
« on: November 02, 2008, 07:53:22 PM »
"So, Herr Professor, are you certain you can control the beast this time? While impressive, we do not want to have the same....problems....as last time. We need to find a weapon to fight the Golems, and you told me this was the most promising weapon by far. But I want results, now, and you know I do not tolerate failures...."

The Professor tried to stay calm, yet his voice still came out a few pitches higher then he really wanted. "We've tested the soil samples retrieved from the Knights Crypt again and this is the most pure to date, the best found sofar in the Fatherland. We excavated several hundreds of kilograms of rock for the new tests. And...."  Seeing the Red Skull turn around and nod towards several troops in the background, each armed with a Panzerfaust, made the Professor cut short his story. "...and we shall begin with the test"

The bunker, already a cold place to begin with, chilled by several degrees as the incantation progressed. Slowly, steadily, the blocks in the pile started to move and form a vaguely humanoid shape. 2 red embers slowly started to glow and the shape raised itself to full height. The beast let out a low growl, causing several men to remove the safeties from their Panzerfausts, while others, involuntary or not, took a step backwards. The beasts gaze went round the bunker and finally settled on the Professor.

"Command it, Professor. If it responds better then the last one, we can take it out for a field test. That is, if it sustains this form indefinately, like you have promised"

Sweat ran from the Professors brow. Slowly, steadily, he voiced his command. The ember like eyes seem to close, like it was thinking, and then the beast took 1 step forward, and another, just like it had been commanded to.

Finally. Progress.

This is, I think, something from Ral Partha, a Earth Elemental I believe. Picked it up a year ago, been on my painting table for 9 months (and the reason I pestered Matt for a Golem) and took me 30 minutes to finish today. Go figure. And yes, I still managed to miss a mould line <sigh>

Painting table is almost clean now, it's good to to remove all of the old clutter.

I like that a lot and I also like the so simple yet so effective cross over use of a fantasy mini into another genre.

Very, very nice. I particularly like the slight Alice Coopering around the eyes, makes a very atmospheric effect. Top job.  :)

Yes, it's a Ral Partha Earth Elemental. I have one and the fire elemental it came with sitting around here somewhere.

Nice mini, but I would put golems in the realm of jewish myths. A bit odd to see it commanded by a nazi rather than a rabbi.

Ehm Hammer, as I've written in the fluff text, it's something to fight Golems. I have not painted my Rabbi or the Golem that goes with it, nor am I in any hurry to finish the rest of the allied team.

An Elemental is not a Golem.

Ah, sorry. Didn't really pay attention there.

Then I'd be worried. I played the MIB team in Matakishi's alien invasion game @ BLAM! and a single man well researched in alien technology managed to obliterate Dr. Who, a U.N.I.T command team and the whole office building around them. Lovely stuff!

Thanks for sharing, very nice minis and paintjob :o :o

What mini is the guy with the book?

I presume the backdrop is scratch-built?
Very nice ideas that may just find their way into my little campaign ;)

Good question, he comes from a line of 20mm Stargate miniatures whose company name is on the tip of my tongue. Sort of.

Hell no  lol It's a railroad kit I picked up from the second hand bin, stripped, rebuilt and is now a PIP.
