Greetings and Introduction !
« on: September 03, 2015, 01:58:43 PM »
Greetings you all

I am Khadrin from the Stonetooth clan. I am back to my land after 15 long years in far countries. It started all back in 1980 with AD&D and several other games followed Call of Cthulhu, MERP Warhammer, Mordheim etc... I haven't been able to play any RPG games nor any tabletop wargames for such a long time. But now I am back, I've been lurking on this forum for a while now, admiring creative boards, nicely painted miniatures and tremendous Inns, houses and Castles,  so it's time for me to start anew.

I have many ideas and plans but my purse being quite flat at the moment, it will take time before I will fulfill them all if ever I can. My first goal is to start with 2 warbands, Dwarves (of the Stonetooth Clan of course) and our enemies of old, the foul Orcs. The dwarves will be from the Blood Dawn line by magister Militum, I really like them, as for the orcs I didn't made up my mind yet. They will fight on a rather small modular board made of 4 30cm x 30 cm squares and I will hopefully expand the board whenever I can. As it is small, I choose to play with a small scale 1/100th, if I am not mistaken that will make 18 mm for a human. Chosing a small scale will keep my expenses on the safe side, it will also fit in my poor storage capacity. For the game rules I am looking for a skirmish game. Even though I played Mordheim in the past, I chose to play now with Song of Blades and Heroes as it is 1. Quite cheap 2. highly regarded by many wargamers and seems to be easy to play and most of all fun. From there we will see where I'll go.

I thank you for your time.

Khadrin

Well welcome to the forum. I might suggest that you look into 15mm. There is a lot more to choose from in that scale. And with scale creep in many of the lines, a lot of them are closer to 18-20mm in size.

Thanks for your suggestion HerbyF. Right now I will stick with 18 mm as I just plan to play SoBH with 2 small warbands,  I think 10-15 minis each and the size won't matter much between Dwarves and Orcs. But you are right, if I want to play with real armies there is a much bigger choice in 15 mm. Then I may go for Demonworld dwarves. But for now I have to get my warbands, paint them and craft my board. Thanks again.
