Anyone tried Ulterior Motives?

How did it go and what are your thoughts?

Having read the cards but not played, I think they will refresh things nicely.

Cheers

Played at the last club.  Added to the fun and was well worth while.  It makes you think a bit more.

I want to order it... But I also want those resin terrain bits. Angry that Nickstsrter went up and down without me noticing.

Anything that adds a story element to this game is worthwhile.

Playing my first game next week. Wouldn't worry about the terrain pieces - plus in order to use them for Ulterior Motives, you'd actually need TWO sets...

I just got my cards yesterday and read through them. I think they will be great fun. I kind of wish this was what Frostgrave had started with. The scenarios in the books can be cool, but I often find myself re-rolling or having to modify a scenario due to not having a specific monster or piece of terrain. Sometimes I think the game would be better with say five or six generic scenarios, a table of random events, and the Ulterior Motives side quests.

I wish I would have realized this when I ordered. Time to start getting creative!!!

Is it two sets if each guy uses his own deck?

I might say f*ck it and DM Scotty the components I need...

You *may* need two sets of the scenery pieces IF the two players pull cards from the deck that require the same scenery pieces for their objectives/red herrings. It may be that neither player pulls a card that needs any scenery to be added.

The more players, the more likely this will happen, and my need three or so sets.

Most of the scenery pieces are readily available or can be knocked up by a competent model maker.
It's just nice to have the official ones, and yes I have them (two sets), plus multiple items from other sources.

All I need now is for nurse to undo the arms of my special jacket...  ;)
