Just a quick message to publicise a small War and Conquest event that Rob Broom (author of rules and ex-WAB head honcho) and I are running on Sunday 13th September.

It's a very low-key (i.e. not overly competitive) type of day and we are hoping to use it to showcase some new army lists for the very late Roman/Arthurian period that I have been working on with Rob, although I believe there will be options for Classical era games if people don't have Late Roman/Arthurian/late Barbarian armies.

It'll be held at our regular venue which is the St John's Ambulance HQ in the town centre. Dedicated free parking and central city location so loads of food vendors nearby, plus space for up to 24 players on 6x4 tables.

We are hoping that we can encourage experienced and newbie War and Conquest players to come along and enjoy a relaxed day of gaming.

For further details of armies, event costs, etc, please drop me a PM.

Many thanks

Andy

I'd love to come Andy but it's too far south for me really- shame as I love playing in campaign days (certainly more fun then the one tournament that I once played is- very serious stuff!!).

Good luck with the event and I expect lots of lovely pics  ;D :)

Thanks Darrell... We don't do 'serious' down here - all good fun stuff. I'll do my best with some pics.

Just a reminder about the event Andy is running - if you are planning on attending, please let us know your preferred army selection, so we can ensure we have enough players in the different Periods

(Currently I am either Romano British or Spartan!)

A couple of loan armies are available so if you have finished painting an army yet, we should be able to help out

Most importantly, all the Age of Warlord lists can be found on the Scarab forum here http://scarabminiatures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1928

And @ Darrell - Peterborough's not so far by train and the venue is in the town centre so get a train down and join in, would be nice to see you again!

thanks

Rob
Kind regards

I will at some point, hopelessly fighting against the grain at the mo' with moving house (at last!) but getting there slowly- hopefully when someone is running a suitable campaign- I used to love the WAB campaign days and this cannot be far off the mark right? I'd have to come down when there was a suitable campaign though I have recently been buying Dave Toone;s beautifully crafted Classical Indians so there's scope for more entries other than medieval now! I've been eagerly eyeing the new Crusader Macedonians but have enough sense these days not to indulge every whim I have  lol lol

You too. It's been a few years!

Let me know as soon as you guys have worked out the themes for the campaigns for the next one and I'll make sure that I make it down  for the next one.

Darrell.

Memories of happy days playing Age of Arthur and Shieldwall campaigns have come flooding back into my minds eye- I really wish that I could make it down now!  :-[

Do you have a loose date for the next campaign weekender/day post the one on the 13th of this month?

Darrell.

Last call for any late entries, Gripping Beast have kindly provided us with some nice figure sets to use as prizes.

All the army lists and event pack can be found on the Scarab Forum, see the previous posts for the links

After much debate, I am taking the Merovingian Franks!

All 6 lists are represented, with Romano British being the most popular, and Saxons running a close second.

Will post full report and pictures next week.

cheers

Rob
