Rampage in Atros
« on: December 18, 2022, 09:08:50 PM »
We did a small Warcry campaign yesterday.

There were four players.  We managed a total of 7 games during the day.

The factions participating were:

Chaos Legionnaires
Unmade
Darkoath
Splintered Fang

These were the table set ups for the first games.

The catacombs table and the docks table were more or less fixed like that for each game played, but the Red Harvest table and the city table were remade after the first games on them by card draw.

The first two games were on the Red Harvest table and the catacombs table.

Fighting over Varanite were the Darkoath and the Unmade.

The initial positions of the two warbands.

The Darkoath leader takes on all comers astride the flume.

The Unmade leader shows up almost too late to have much of an impact.

The Darkoath leader holds his position while the fruitless search for Varanite continues above the battlefield.

The Unmade continue to scour the platforms but there is very little Varanite anywhere.

Elsewhere under the streets of Atros, the Chaos Legionnaires clashed with the Splintered Fang.

The two factions brutalized each other in the catacombs, but the Legionnaires capability of inflicting injury was able to overcome the Fang's greater speed and numbers in the confined space.

At the end of the battle the ritual had been completed and many of the Fang had to be dragged away by their few remaining comrades.

As the Legionnaires were trying to get word of their success out of the city of Atros they were ambushed by the Unmade.

The attempt to take out the Legionnaires Decuriarch was a tough slog for the degenerate chaos worshippers.

The ship was filled with holes and had taken on water with the deck boards soggy and slippery.  The going was tough.

As the Unmade swarmed the small island where the Decuriarch was, the Legionnaires commander climbed to the island floating above it and then leaped over his enemies onto the ship.

With their forces divided, the Unmade were an easy target for the brutal soldiers of the Legion.

The main deck of the ship was cleared of the enemy, but reinforcements showed up to try another angle of attack and crush the Legionnaires between the two wings of the warband.

The discipline and brutality of the Legion won the day though as the Mutandor sacrificed himself to save his commander.

The Legion then returned to the catacombs to try to claim the underground space, but the Darkoath had the same idea.

While the Darkoath resilience surprised the Legionnaires, it was not enough to keep the majority of their force from falling victim to the swinging blades of the soldiers of the First Prince.

It was, however, enough to stop the Legionnaires from managing to control the territory and the Darkoath were able to push the Legion from the catacombs.

The Legion again found themselves at the docks, fighting their way through the Splintered Fang again.

The battle was bloody but the Legion were just not quick enough to pin down the bloodmarked enemy.

Despite heavy resistance their own bloodmarked fighter was brought down by cowardly missile fire.  The fighters in the Legion, obviously tired from their many battles, were unable to cut down the Fang warriors with the savagery that they had mustered earlier.

Lavinar, the Decuriarch, had made progress during his expedition to Atros.  The Legion had set up camp inside the city, the first of the Warbands to do so.  They made their camp secure and were not threatened by the other warbands.  They were also able to acquire a number of potent artifacts to use during future battles.

Great narrative. Do you find the legion overpowered against the original factions?

Good looking game.
Those battle mats are quite effective.
I particularly liked the Legion figures - well painted and quite interesting sculpts.  Are they GW figures?

Thanks for the report and photos
