A great game and setup.

For a table you had lying around already - I think you have captured the look of Frostgrave brilliantly.

Is the table fixed or do elements lift out?

Thanks guys, yeah the board all comes a apart, except for one corner where there is a room  underneath with a pass thru. The top of that section comes off and can be played on separately
revealing the room underneath..that will surely come up next game...

Dang man, that setup looks brilliant, love it.  :-*  I'd love to imitate that little hidden room you have going on.  I really like how organic it looks with the multiple levels, really looks like a city that was real and alive at one point.  :)

I think I found my main inspiration for my own table. Even just white, this set-up looks epic. It conveys exactly what I think Frostgrave should be. Stone structures, built the way magicians would probably build them (ie. crazy), simply awesome!!

Really nice looking table and great write up.  I love reading these write-ups and they are really useful for me as the author - the more games I hear about the easier it is to judge what is working and what might need modification in the future.

One little note I think, like many, you've been confused by my poor writing of activation. The wizard and apprentice can always activate up to three soldiers as a standard activation. The group activation is just if you want to move everyone first, then do their second actions - sometimes important for gang-up attacks.

Thanks for giving the game a try!

Thanks again folks,  :) since playing frostgrave gave me some extra motivation to dig into my huge unpainted pile
I too was quite happy the board did look quite appropriate in its monotone paint scheme.

@ Joe

Thanks much for pointing that out!, while being forced to move solo if you wanted act first instead of move, created some interesting tactical choices, standard activation of up to 3 models feels similar to other games so thats an easy switch, we are playing again tomorrow night so we'll give it go
great game, I'll definitely be picking up the next supplement.

The statues are actually all from Games Workshop. the Kings from the Osgilath terrain box, the hooded figure from the original GW terrain set. I made a mold of the piece so I can plaster cast up as many of those as I like :)

I've only just learned of the Ruins of Osgiliath set and didn't realize it came with the statues.  And it is out of production now.  Drat!  Ah well, the search for good statues continues.

Still, your design has greatly influenced my plans for future frostgrave boards.  I had been thinking about full 2 x 2 MDF board sections that were either low or high, but I like how your board's four corners create a network of high and low with a lot of visual obstruction.

Great looking terrain. Very inspirational. I had already started doing something similar with raised areas to create muliple levels, but after seeing this I have made more such rectangular raised areas and also borrowed some of your other ideas.
