assembling Starship Troopers Warriors
« on: November 05, 2008, 09:49:09 PM »
I have some plastic bugs from Mongoose publishing Starship Troopers game, but no directions on how to assemble or paint them. Could someone help me with this information?

Someone on TMP posted a workbench article on how to assemble these.

Just do what I do:

THrow all the bits in a box, pour in super glue and shake vigourously. Hey presto, assembled models!

Agis,

Great paintwork on the beast and the trooper. :)

(Also posted on TMP)

My added advice:

Glue -- use Ambroid ProWeld (available at most hobby shops that sell plastic models). It works perfectly on this type of plastic. Also works by capillary action (see next comment).

Assembly -- Use the guide/link provided by Extra Crispy, with this additional step -- after you have the legs in the body (loose) and the two body halves glued together, support the body with some modeling clay up to the height desired then position the legs the way you want them. Work the clay to raise or lower the legs if needed. This way you're sure the legs will all touch the table when the figure is done (and not wobble). Then apply the Ambroid glue. It comes with a built-in brush. All you have to do is brush the glue around the leg ball joint areas and the glue will pull itself in around the ball joint. As the glue takes, you still have time to adjust the body and legs to make sure all "feet" are even.

Personally I've never found a single SST miniature from MGP to be hard to assembly. Sucks they dropped the line :? though. Oh hey, Agis, I remember seeing your stuff all that time ago. Dunno if I ever got the chance to say how excellent it is though ;).

Thanks very much Schogun. I'll look for that glue, also I like the tip about modeling clay. I've got a ball joint and alligator clip dingus to hold things while they set but the clay tip sounds like a winner. Best of luck with your rocket launch BTW.
