Question on Greek helmet
« on: September 09, 2015, 01:16:42 PM »
Can one our experts on the Greeks help me with a couple of questions?

1. Does this particular type of helmet with the big cresty thing have a name?

2. Does any UK manufacturer make 15mm Hoplites with these big crest/plume holders?

Any advice for this rookie would be most appreciated.

???

I'm not an expert but it's a Corinthian but appears to have cutouts for the ears, which is less common (usually a feature of later helmets).  You can see a similar one on this link.

Like BRB said, it's a Corinthian, a (not very good) reproduction, though. Crests don't help with identifying a design as they're chosen individually and any original's lost.

Usual suspects from the UK don't seem to produce figs wearing these high-crested Corinthians. Khurasan in the US has one though (go from here).

Thanks for the help chaps. Got exactly what I was after from 'Tin Soldier' here in Blighty. Excellent service, here within two days, they even went as far as sending eight identical figures instead of a random mix of poses and helmets... very imposing, even for Hoplites!

Sounds like you are sorted but just to add I am fairly sure some of the Foundry Greeks have that helmet.
