Front Rank 18th century Colonial Spanish update 04/10/15
« on: September 09, 2015, 01:39:05 PM »
Well actually their French but I've painted them as Spanish troops. There's still a few more of these to do and they will be based by the owner so Ill put the others up on completion. I think these are the first Front Rank figures I've painted, they were very nice to paint and the sculpts are very clean. The only thing I would say is they are a little "stiff" in their poses but then that may appeal to a lot of people, especially in this period.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Splendidly turned out Sir.

Front Rank figures are certainly a joy to paint.

Very tidy paintwork Jeff  :-*
I agree about the stiffness. I quite like Front Rank figures, but they do have a bit of that old fashioned toy soldier feel to them.
Very easy and pleasurable painting though  :)

Thanks for the nice comments lads, as I said these are the first batch of a unit of 28 along with an Artillery crew which I hope to do over the next couple of weeks. And who knows where we may go from there..... :D

@Jeff965, You said that they will be based by the owner… are the black round bases just for holding them during painting? If so, how do you make them hold? I had some hard time figuring out a way to make figures hold on their temporary bases which will resist all the painting manipulations but will be easy enough to "unglue" once the painting is done…  :?

Hi Calimero, a little dot of wood glue is your friend. Holds it well enough and easy to pop off.

Last of the Infantry, 30 figures in all and quite a little force to be getting on with. Only the Artillery crew left to do now. I'm sure when their based up and a nice flag is added they will look the part.
