Return to Mordheim - Skaven
« on: September 10, 2015, 03:36:00 PM »
Mordheim. A game I loved when it was released and played many a game with various war bands over the years. Haven't played it in about 5 years and so I've decided to once again grace it's rubble strewn streets with my presence. I'll be scratch building the town this time around, having used the cardboard ruins from the game previous times I played.

First up, a member of my Skaven warband. Slightly converted using a spare sling from the old Mordheim skaven plastics.

WELCOME BACK TO MORDHEIM! The Rat Guy is a FINE start to your triumphal return...the brushwork, colors, & base are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!

If you need some Mordheim specific motivation, try a visit or two to Tom's Boring Mordheim Forum:

Great looking Skaven there! The armor looks especially well done.

I've got a box of old Mordheim figures (mostly various minis from the humans mercenary lists) that I really should pull out and paint.  I hear there's a Mordheim group at the FLGS, maybe I could even get a few games in!   :)

A beautifully done rat-man there. Not that rat-men exist. No. Just the ravings of madmen.

Thanks for the kind comments.

From the lowliest skaven to the mightiest now, some muscle for my warband. He won't be in the starting line up, but I couldn't resist painting him. Possibly my favourite rat ogre model GW have ever made.

Very steampunk. I like. Out of interest, why have you based on round bases?

I'm using round bases as I pretty much use them exclusively now. I prefer my skirmish game models with round bases as, in my view, they look better.

Nicely done! Canny highlighting.

What are the base toppers? Textured plasticard?

Thanks. The base toppers are indeed textured plasticard with some sand splodges to break it up a bit and make it look like dirt covered streets.

Beautiful work.

I miss the good old days of Mordheim and the other smaller GW games. Man have they destroyed what was such a good thing.

I may steal the textured plasticard idea for my future Frostgrave warbands. They look ace. :D

Thanks guys. Progress is a bit slow, I'm not very good at batch painting. Only managed to paint one rat this week. A verminkin wielding two daggers for extra stabbiness which is in the nature of Clan Treecherik more than most skaven.

Lovely models! :)

Aside from equipment, how are you planning to differentiate the various model types from each other?
