My Ras Kassa
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:50:07 AM »
I really wanted some proper companions to go with Tin Shed's Haile Selassie. I mocked up a bodyguard easy enough using an existing figure who'll simply be painted to match, but there were no other government officials or dignitaries. I settled on the loyal pillar, Ras Kassa Haile Darge (he actually had a better claim to the throne than Haile Selassie, but thought well of Selassie and valued loyalty over ambition). Another good man who deserved some recognition, though Ethiopia certainly had no shortage of such men in the 30's!

The head was a Space Wolf, with all the cyberbits hacked off. The legs were simply a recast from another figure, and the hand was a simple press-mold job. The only parts I actually sculpted from scratch were the cloak, hair, and sides of the beard. Crude, but it'll do.

The painted version will go in my Pulp minis thread (along with Haile Selassie and the bodyguard), since all my 30's stuff goes there.

For a split second I thought that was the painted version. That face paint would freak anyone out.

Anyway - nice conversion (he looks just as intense in the Wikipedia photo).

Haha, yeah, the white is just the Vallejo filler putty (essentially their version of Liquid Greenstuff - I like it quite a bit better than LGS though).
