Aquarium Pieces as Frostgrave Ruins
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:19:40 AM »
Hi,

Wondering if anybody has tried any of these aquarium pieces as Frostgrave ruins:

I estimate the front arch to be about 6cm high from the overall dimensions given - £13.95 online.

Again seems to be about the right scale - £10 this one so not so much bang for buck.

This one is 12cm high so the doorway at the back would be too small but could be blocked up or made larger - £7.95

This is 28cm long and 18cm high - £10

I have not seen that series in this neck of the woods.  I like the first one, particularly.

I used this piece on one of my display boards, I made it for 15mm but it could easily work for 28's as well.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

I've got this one and works well for 7th Voyage...I think with a bit of snow and a little more grey it'd be fine for Frostgrave. Here's a pic next to some 28mm minis

I'm a big fan of aquarium decorations...

Pretty much everything in the pics is an aquarium decoration (picked up on Amazon mainly) but finding ones which fit the frozen theme is a bit more difficult...though the greek ruins and some of the rocks and trees will work fine.

I have lots more and there are plenty of pics on my blog for those who are interested.

Why yes :) http://fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2015/08/new-terrain-for-frostgrave.html

I haven't dressed them snow flock etc yet but they work as they are...

not entirely in keeping with the theme most people are going with but who says Frostgrave doesn't have a China Town.

My Frostgrave will be much more "abandoned Shambala/Xanadu/sprawling Himalayan monastery" than "snowy Mordheim", so you're not the only one.  ;)

This is a great thread thanks for starting it! I haven't used Aquarium pieces before but lately I've seen a lot of beautiful boards featuring them and it's peaked my curiosity.

Where generally do you guys search for these things online? I'm particularly interested in the Olmec head which I haven't been able to find.

I got that exact one in my local pet store for just £3. It needs a little work and a decent base be stable for a game but a great bargain.

All of the pieces pictured in the original post were from ebay commercial sellers.

I've got this ruined pillar which I've used for Frostgrave:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ellie-Bo-Handpainted-Polyresin-Aquarium-Ornament/dp/B00K6L09C2/ref=pd_bxgy_199_img_y

I've got my eye on a few more, but I'm planning on using them for a jungle set-up for a Pulp Alley game.

In general though, aquarium stuff seems tailor-made for wargaming, and it's generally really cheap!
