More plastic goodies.

This is very good, they talk of a Brit pack for both the Waterloo and Spanish campaign by using different head gear :-*

Is that the 3rd company doing plastic napoleonics....?

I hope all these ranges will be similar enough to be used together, for slight variation...

Now, someone do the 95th  >:D

No, I think it's still just the second. You're counting Perry twice unless I'm mistaken.

Perhaps - were the Perry greens announced some time ago before the Victrix?

Can't remember, but it was another set of miniatures. These new ones are just their next batch.

Just a thought, Perry Miniatures have already produced a Late/Waterloo range of French Plastics which goes with their already large range of Late French Napoleonic’s metals. And there are other Late/Waterloo armies in their metal ranges.

But now, they are producing a set of British Infantry in plastic, which are suitable for both the Peninsula and Waterloo (by including different sets of shakos).

It remains to be seen if they are serious in producing a early Napoleonic range of figures, or this is just a one off for British Infantry as its straightforward shako conversion and pulling one over the Victrix stuff (due to delays releasing next month).

They're apparently going to try and find room on the sprues for half-a-dozen Rifles to use as skirmishers.

Since the Perry’s metal range is devoted exclusively to the 100 days period I think that it will stay that way for quite some time… Maybe we can expect to see plastic Prussians Line next?

I think it’s very likely that they will do the Prussians plastics, but I am sure it’s only for the 100 Days.

As with the Perry British, it’s an easy option to include stovepipe shakos (early) in the set to give a choice to customers, but the only Peninsula choice.

I'm not complaining at all, I would include the Perry British in Peninsula shako to go with the Victrix Brits (that is if they are fairly close in size etc).

This seems to be a common theme with other manufacturers, in particular with Warlord games for example – producing a plastic set of core infantry, supplemented with metal figures for command, cavalry etc. just like Perry Miniatures.

Warlord has just released a set of Roman cavalry – in metal.

I wonder if this is the case with Victrix?

Just a note, I inadvertently mentioned that the minis are coming out soon when in fact they won't be out until the first quarter of 2009. My apologies to the Perry's for the mistake. The post has been updated.

Just got a reply from Steve of Victrix.

I asked him about how much of the range will be in Hard Plastic and if they will follow the sample of Warlord and Perry in using hard plastic as base infantry and metal for everything else.

Hi Gary,

Yes I have seen the Perrys announcement. I was not a surprise to know they
were going to do British at some point as all their Napoleonics so far are
for doing the Waterloo campaign, I expect they will do Prussinas in plastic
as well after the British. Dissapointing comments form some idiots online
saying we are domed but I think we will be alright, our figures are a near
as perfect match for the Perry Miniatures so people can happily mix the two
ranges.Ours will be released in a month as well and I would expect the Pery
British to be out in about 3 months time if their pattern makers work fast.

We do plan on doing Cavalry and Artillery in Plastic. Metals will only be a
part of the range when the figures really are speciality figures that would
not go in a box, such as generals and injured etc... everything else will be
plastic. It will be core infantry then start padding out the armies with
Heavy and Light cavalry, horse and foot artillery and light troops for all
nations, plus extra head conversion packs to adapt the figures further.

Pre orders will be going up in the next two weeks and we hope to have them
released for the 8th November, give or take a day or two. Announcements will
be going up on the site next week.

Very best regards,

Steve.
