Roman Army 150-200AD for War & Conquest
« on: September 25, 2015, 09:51:30 AM »
I have two Dark Age armies but have decided I need my own ancient army rather than borrow a friends. Here is the start of it, the bases are sand as they are based in the East :-

Thank you for the kind words, now if only they can fight as well as they look, only time will tell.

In my experience, new troops never fight well. Well-painted new troops are the worst. In other words, you're screwed!

Impressive collection, I particularly like the 'muddied' shields.  8-)

Barrowclough; "Have you got any valuables here, Fletch?
Fletcher; "Only what I always keep in my pyjamas"
Blanco; "He could have been after your lemon barley water; "
Fletcher; "What - in my pyjamas? Funny shaped bottle"

That's the First Law of Wargaming.
But after their first battle they'll be fine and it will be the fate of new unit's added to the army that will suffer future humiliation.

The rest of the Romans so far, I am on the generals now then four more or five or maybe six units and that's it  ;) Yes I think a little drybrushing on the bottom of the shields and backs of cloaks enhances the unit/figure for little effort.

I have now completed my generals and can field over 2000 WAC points, only four units to go.

Marcus Aurelius

Giaus Avidius Cassius

Medicus 1

Medicus 2

Tribunes or Centurions

I am trying hard to get the photographs better.

Are these going to be in action at the November War & Conquest event?
Kind regards

No Rob I am using Phil's Greeks, my son will be upholding the honour of the family with my Romano-British in the Dark Age section. I do hope to use them in February at Matt and Jenny's tournament.
