The Forgeworld human imperial guard arms work quite well as they aren't as beefy. They also have "proper" 40k weapons.

are good, if expensive.

For your delectation, I introduce Mama Gijón - a new Astropath inspired loosely by the Ian Watson character of Moma Parsheen from the Inquisition War trilogy. I've painted her up as the 'cleric' archetype for my adventuring party :)

I have just realised that I have not commented in this thread for a while.....
How rude!
Especially as I have been a regular follower.
Time to fix that...

Some superb and inspirational stuff here, chaps.
I love what you have been doing and you have reminded me of a few classy figures that I had forgotten about in the process.
Great brushwork and innovation all round.
Thank you!

Glad you like the output! It's been a really fun project to do - working with JB is great, and I've enjoyed seeing his interpretation of the brief as much as I've enjoyed the challenge myself :)

Lovely figure! I really like the little critters too BTW - I think they help with the feeling of both D&D and with earlier RT/40K artwork, and they also help populate the base a little (which is important as some smaller old figs can look a little lost on a 25mm base).

Last entry for me as far as models are concerned so I've decided to end with an exodite ranger designed and commissioned by Axiom and sculpted by Patrick Keith. If you find a bit of Furiosa and classic punk in her... well that was the intent !

All you want to know about her and the painting process in the associated blogpost HERE.

She looks great (maybe some more subtle trimming on the tunic?) Just a quick idea coming to mind, to keep her Eldar-ish. What a lovely day to assemble this group! :D

I think she looks great, and also suitably alien.

Not a bad idea; perhaps using a darker or lighter tone of the tunic's brown in order to keep it subtle?

With Asslessman finishing off his sextet over the weekend, I sat down last night and finished of my adventuring party with a heavy hitting Paladin!

The figure is a slight conversion from the late 1980s Citadel limited edition 'Power Armour Marine' - I cut away the original faceplate of the helmet and added in a new face.

I wanted a gritty, combat worn veteran for my Paladin (in contrast to Asslessman's clean and shiny interpretation), so he got liberal washes and weathering.

Here's the final party:

There's more words and pictures over at my blog.

I would hate to run into that guy in an Arco-Hab.  :D
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.
