Ork Brewhouse Bash
« on: September 29, 2015, 12:43:22 PM »
Five of us got together for a gaming session a little while ago.  For fun we decided to dig out the rules for Brewhouse Bash game printed in White Dwarf in the late 90s.  To invest each of the players, and provide an amusing little side project each participant was required to produce an ork suitable for the event (so primarily unarmed or armed with improvised weapons).

The bar was put together from Battlesystems sci-fi terrain, which also contained chairs to be used as weapons by the protagonists.  The terrain set didnt have bottles however, which are also used as props in the game.  Rather than use cardboard bottle counters like these...

...theottovonbismark decided to put together a series of props to serve the same function in game.  He them posted the pieces to me and I quickly painted them.

The set that he sculpted really is quite entertaining.  It includes various bottles, both broken and intact (including a bottle of refined and very rare “Tears of Isha”), an unlit molotov cocktail, a jug, some suspicious looking meat on the bone, a plinth mounted bust of “Orkimedes” and a bong made from an Imperial Fist helmet.  I dont think that most folks actually grow weed in their bongs, but thats artistic license for you.

I forgot to take proper snaps of the actual Brawler models, so I didnt even end up with photos of all five which was a stupid oversight.  The following shots are from the blog posts about the models with links to the appropriate blog posts about them if you need more details:

Da Sweedork Chef, by theottovonbismark.

Sons of Anorky member Rubbaleg, product of Mr Saturday

Patrick Swayzork (which some of you may have already seen in my ork thread)

The game itself played adequately and was a lot of laughs.  Its not something that I would want to play ion a very regular basis as it is currently written, but I have plans to add a couple of elements to make it a suitable convention game.  More details on that when it materialises.  Before that, a couple of photos of the game in progress:

The blog post on the game is here.

Thanks for looking!

Brilliant! I remember this game well - wasn't there a printed bar layout with a skinned mutie steed on the floor?

Tihihi, so brilliant this. Love the idea and execution of it all. Bonkers and gaming combined...a recipe for the best evenings with mates.

Swayzork should have a special attack move where he jumps from a table across the room into an opponent's face, with his knees bent under him... "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!" *Swoosh*

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Yep, thats the one.

theottovonbismark fired them out in a short space of time and I gave them a rapid, but functional paint job.  They realy did make the game a lot more enjoyable though.

Swayzork did open the game by leaping off the balcony with the bust of Orkimedes and plant it in One-Eyes head.  I didnt sing "I Had the Time of my Life" when it happened, which I regret now :(  lol

Happily, it doesnt seem likely that I will at this stage.  Note that two of the figures above are not mine however, with links to the forum members that did listed with them.

Thats certainly the plan :)
