Swiss Burgundian Wars
« on: September 29, 2015, 03:02:06 PM »
I am currently painting up a Swiss Burgundian Wars collection and I just finished the first 20 Flemish Pike, 20 more will be added to complete the unit.

Next up should be a 40 man Burgundian Pike unit.

Nice!  Are these the Old Glory figures?

They all look like Perry Miniatures from their European Armies Late C15 range to me :)

Yes, they are Perry, mostly metal and a few plastic.

Unfortunately the casting of the Perry metals leaves much to be desired, so I will stick to their plastics once I have finished the Flemish pike unit.

True enough, alas... Some of the metals in the EA range do have a bit of a dashed-off feel :'(

Nice unit though  :)

Very nice, they look great!

I am thinking about getting those same metals to use as pikemen alongside my Perry plastics. I got one pack as a test run, they definitely don't seem so refined, but I'm thinking they should do.... Is it my imagination though, or are they noticeable shorter than the plastics? I know they are in a leaning forward position, but they seem 'little'....
The main reason I want them to work is I like the way they are holding the pikes, I want that 'advancing' pose not the 'marching / pikes shouldered pose'.

The Perry EA pikemen are quite crudely sculpted but do look very effective as units.

Here are some of my Swiss.  The front two ranks (3+3 figures) are on large scenic bases.
The movement trays are from Warbases.  They are brand new and will be textured to match the bases.
