IHMN AAR: The struggle for the Lock-Jar
« on: September 29, 2015, 08:22:29 PM »
Played yesterday night: A two player game with a third NPC party

Far away in the middle of the southern Pacific Ocean: A remote and virtually unknown island, concealed by a pea soup of foggy clouds and rumours...Skill Island!
Inhabited by a vicious tribe of warrior women known as the "Cannubals". Their male brethren are believed to separately dwell on the slightly better known neighbouring Skull Island where strange prehistoric animals had been witnessed and a giant ape should be king of the isle. Apart from the human inhabitants (who prefer a certain diet of human flesh) there is only one other thing that both islands share - the concealment under thick layers of fog.

Two travelling parties from distant Europe set sail to Skill Island by different reasons, but with the same objective: To get into posession of a huge crystal called the "Lock-Jar" that is told of in old pirate tales. British Lord Edward Weatherby and his wife Lady Constance along with a society of fellows named "Weatherby´s Finest" are driven by pure adventure lust and the possible profit from a sale of that gem.
Prussian Colonel von Ströheim and his retinue of the sinister Doctor Kobalt, Sergeant Krieg and a hand picked number of riflemen are on a mission for the Thule society who is aiming to use the legendary crystal in the contruction of a ray gun with incomparable fire power.

The wild women are guarding the crystal in a cave taht is located in a hill in the center of the island. Both European parties approach undetected from the back of the hill, although from different directions without seeing each other. The island is covered by heavy clouds of fog that limit their vision. In an heroic attempt the Prussian rifles try to charge their opponents by a flight with their "Luft-Harnesses". Their landings on the difficult hill fail however and all of them are knocked down.

Meanwhile Colonel von Ströheim and Lady Weatherby try to get close to the "Lock-Jar", but both are intercepted by two Cannubals each.

The Colonel is aided by a rifleman and succeeds over his female opponent, but the British noblewoman is less lucky and gets killed by the savages.

It is told that the Prussian riflemen are equipped with a reanimation device that brings them back to life once they die in combat as long as they are under the influence of a certain power field generated by Doktor Kobalt. Therefore the sinister doctor is preventively targeted and struck dead by Gatling machine gun fire next.

Only a few paces separate the Colonel from the crystal when he is engaged in close combat by another Cannubal while the British dominate the hilltop now.

"Black" Jack Moretti sets thing straight with the savages and avenges the death of his Lord´s Lady.

Midnight struck and the game had to be over - a fair draw for both parties, in good tradition sealed with a handshake and wishes for better luck next time. It was a great game - three hours of immense fun and epic cinematographic scenes in the heads of the players. The introduction of a third party of non-playing characters was a good decision that spiced things up a lot.

Superb is the naked amazon from the foundry sets or a convert?

She´s a conversion of one of the two poses available. I altered them all a bit for diversity.
