PULP CITY
« on: October 02, 2015, 02:54:10 AM »
Hi,

Would like to start on this game wondering how is the gameplay?

Would individual special skills be difficult to memorize and often forgotten during game play?

Any online rules for the latest rule set?

Also haha anyone selling unwanted minis for Pulp City?

The game play is very fluid. You have a lot of options each round, and figures can activate multiple times per round.

There is no need to memorize your character's super powers, they are written right on the card.

I don't know if there are free rules for Supreme edition, but there used to be for the 1st edition.

I have several extra figures, PM me with a list and I'll see if I can get them for you, provided you don't mind paying the shipping from Canada.

Thanks for the positive words obsidian3d. :)

As for free rules, the quickstart rules can be downloaded for free (including the Quick Reference sheet which is part of the full rules): http://pulp-city.com/downloads-2/

Thanks!!! been eyeing it for sometime.

The quick start rules is not enough to play a full game?

The new rulebook is a must to play the game?

The Quick-start is just what it is intended to be: a lighter version of the full rules, presented in a very compressed explanation; no Quick start is ever going to be fully comprehensive, as that defeats the purpose.

Game cards for models include their personal rules, the core rules are the building blocks of play.

So for something like 90-95% of models you can get by with the Quick-start, but there are a few things missing from that version. :)

I was able to play a test game completely with the quick start rules a few weeks back. I used Crimson Oni, Red Riding Hood w/ her zombie wolf and Ace of Wraiths against Gentleman, Night Fright and Doom Train. I ignored the agendas and plots at the like, in order to get back into the basic game mechanics.

The paper got flipped over a LOT, and the only thing I recall missing was the restriction on activating minions which is a little different than characters. So for a few learning games to get the mechanics, you should be able to make do quite nicely with the QSR.

It is a beautifully done full colour rulebook with lots of great background and artwork, in addition to the rules of course. :)
