Kings Mountain Miniatures Dismounted Dragoons
« on: October 01, 2015, 08:10:47 AM »
Some pix of my Kings Mt Dismounted Dragoons. My website is being updated and these dragoons and the Southern Continentals will be added to the catalog soon.
Kings Mountain figures are available in Europe from Galloping Major.

I've just edited away the minor altercation that occurred on this thread.

To all concerned, please remember:

1. People post stuff here because they choose to. Then people comment (or not) because they choose to. There's no obligation or expectation either way, nor should there be.

2. We don't do personal attacks, mud-slinging or name-calling here.
Any and all such outbreaks will be removed straightaway, so you may as well not get into that stuff.
If people want to shout at each other, please do it by PM, not in the open forum.

Thanks  :)

I would just like to tak a moment to explain why I cannot post a "how to" here.
I was asked to write an article for the Ezine "Early American Wars", which I agreed to do.

Before the Ezine was published, several people requested that I do a "how to" here.
I cannot do that, because I gave the publisher of the magazine my word that his mag would have the article first.

I have NO INTEREST in the Ezine. I got NOTHING for writing the article.
I didn't receive anything but a thank you from the publisher.
I even pay for my own subscription!!

So fellow LAF's, I am not attempting to profit off my article. I wish I could just print it here and be done with it.
When the time comes, I will ask permission to reprint the article here.

If I had submitted that article to Wargames Illustrated or Battlegames would anyone complain? You have to pay for those magazines. Why is an Ezine any different?

Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up. Thanks for listening.

Sorry, one other thing. King Mountain Miniatures is hobby for me.
I wanted AWI figures sculpted for myself. My intention was to cast enough figures for myself and a few friends.

The figures became popular and my excess Highlander figures sold out, by word of mouth.
So, I made more. The Over Mountain Men.
These I made with seperate heads, so that you could make unique figures.
And they sold, again by word of mouth.

Dismounted Dragoons followed.
Southern Continentals right behind them.

You won't see Kings Mountain Miniatures advertised in any of the industry publications or online.
No Facebook, no tweets, no electronic newsletters.
I have a website, but it has not been updated in 2 years.

And you won't find them at Cons or shows. I  don't have a representitive.

The figures are cast in the UK, so Lance from Galloping Major, is able to carry them without the excess shipping costs from the USA. Strictly for the benefit of our European friends
Lance pays me in GM castings, which are spectacular. It's more of a trade than anything.

So, that's it. There is no money to be made here. In fact, it's a marvelous money loser.
But I didn't do it for money. I just wanted the figures for myself.

A great subject choice for figures there. I don't do AWI, but I'm sure there will be plenty of 1790s units I could use them for, especially if the spurs are filed away and the boots painted as gaiters. I'll keep an eye on Galloping Major's site.

Cheers
Adam
