Some Photos of my WW1 Middle-East project Update
« on: November 13, 2008, 11:42:04 AM »
Hi folks,

Here are some of my painted figures for my Middle-East collection that I've been working on for sometime. There are many conversions and in some cases a mix of Brigade Games (BG) with Battle Honour (BH) figures. Oh and there is one Old Glory German doctor that I painted for the Middle-East.

The Asienkorps battery is represented by two sections of two different artillery pieces that were in the Middle-East. All the crew are BH with some conversions and inclusions from other packs.

The Asienkorps staff are all BH except for the doctor The bugler is a conversion an attached to the MG section. One of my favourites is the German officer with the fruit salad (awards) that I had to paint on him, unfortunately you really can't see it here.

The ANZAC officers are head conversions using BG figures and BG head swaps. Two of the figures I painted along time ago and so my painting style has changes for the better.

My favourite is my first two of four Austrians that will be represented in the game next month fighting alongside the Turks and Germans. The Austrian Officer is a Austrian BH artillery officer with a hat conversion from a BG German sun helmet. You can see the real sun hat the Austrians used in Palestine below this photo. The uniforms were exactly the same cut as their Pike Grey outfits. Just for your info an Austrian artillery officer lost his head at Beersheba from artillery fire during the 3rd Battle for Gaza. Wargame Companies tend to forget the smaller contributions from some countries and I intend to put it right by utilising whatever means to make it happen.

The Austrian mountain batteries always fought very well and were well respected by all.

I like to think that our Austrian hero (Peder and Dylan know him) is now on an adventure in the Orient!  8)

Edit

Just added another photo at the end of this message.

I like to thank Michael Broadbent for taking the photos.

You have a very nice collection Helen, really admirable. Well done.
Looking forward to see the rest of them.

By the way, the doctor with the grey coat, doesnot feel very warm in Palestine?

Who is the officer with the fruit salad?

Thankyou for your lovely comments. Actually the photo does not give any credit to  the figures, The officer with the map has the Pour le Merite, Iron Cross 1st class and Iron Cross second class ribbon. I'll try and get a better photo to show you.

My Brits which I've just finished will be next up on site.

Thanks to all for their lovely comments.

Well, since, depending on the season and location, desert temperatures can range from about -10°C to +45°C, I imagine he might be very grateful for that coat around Midnight!  :D

Or maybe in some cases more than that. Average day/night difference could be 70 degrees C.
I know mostly Sahara conditions and not Palestine ones. But I feel that the temperature in Palestine is not so low, mostly is warm. Anyhow this is not the point, it was a joke. I prefered him in white robe!

Furthermore Helen's collection is very nice even in hot or cold weather!
