My hexagonal board (laarge post!)
« on: October 26, 2015, 07:50:46 PM »
(my apologies for my badly english  :( )
Some months ago I started an hexagonal-pieced game board using PVC sheet, inorder to play with different scales and settings. After some sacrifice I got my first results... I hope you like it, suggestions and criticism are welcoming :)

First of the steps, plain pieces (you can view more details and some reflections on the link below, there is a translator tool on the blog  :) )

http://portbelisario.blogspot.com.es/2014/11/fabricando-un-tablero-hexagonado-i.html

Second delivery, low hills. Didn't pretend something complicated, but balanced between practical and attractive.
(poor pics, I know, sorry for it...)

After the hills here come the woods.Quite laborious, but really I enjoyed making them. Poor pics again, I'm afraid...

And extra pic of local event, where we premiere the board representing the battle of Somosierra with Command & Colors: Napoleonic rules:

Next step: mountains/impassable terrain. uite satisfied with them, although pics don't allow appreciate the details.
(Don't know why, but I can't avoid thinking on games like Age of Wonder, or Heroes of Might and Magic  :-* )

Some pics of the elements as a whole, with the colaboration of my children  :)

After three months of intermittent job, the river pieces, who were the hardest to produce...However I think the effort had his reward. Small tutorial on the link:

Some check with different scales:
1/72 Italieri british:

15 mm vickers gun:

10 mm aprox. Stuart tanks:

And a Davion Whitworth mech crossing the river:

And last, first game with complete board. A home-ruled Axis & Allies play, setting on Guadalcanal wilderness (poor pics again!)

Buena mesa para juegos. pero hay que pintar las caras de los mosaicos, Creo que es mejor para las pequeñas figuras.
Gracias.

Nice stuff! I'd still like to make a Chitin I board someday, and these are fine ideas to borrow.

That's what I'm using for my hex board.

Gracias robh :)
Lo tengo planeado, pero no hasta que termine completamente el proyecto...es una tarea ingente. De todos modos se nota mucho más en las fotos que en la mesa.

Thanks, robn :)
It's planned but not until end the project... it's a big job. Anyway it is outlined more on the pics than on the table.

I know, it's an interesting product, but I was looking for the cheapest option. The PVC sheet was a kind donation of a friend :)

Enormously cool, man. Yup, there may be some other options out there, but you won't feel as proud of them as of these pieces! :D

Yes, they have a very interesting range... if you can afford. I was looking a cheap project, total cost of my board is around 20 €!

Thanks Suber! Your stuff is very interesting, too!  ;)
