@carlos.  lol Not so much irate, just miffed.  ;)

I'd forwarded him 'jungle green' a while back. He'd said that there would be a certain Sergeant major in the DLI having an apoplexy over the amount of visible flesh on show during a patrol.  ;)

I've got no qualms about using them for Borneo. I'll just need to hide them from him.  :D

Curious fact for when you get around to painting the Argylls. Officers were entitled to wear a grey shirt with KD. Photos of Lt Col Mitchell clearly show him doing so

This dates back to the 19th Century in India when the Argyllshire Regiment dyed their white summer uniforms grey and so earned the nickname "Dirty Shirts".  When they amalgamated with the Sutherland Highlanders to form the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders the grey shirts were retained by officers as a distinction.  Incidentally the officers had (to the present day) to purchase the grey shirts.  They were not compulsory - Aye Right (the famous Scottish double positive = a negative). :D

Dirty Shirts was also applied to the Bengal European Regt. who at the 4 sieges of Burhtaphore did not wash their shirts for two weeks in 1805.
