Encounters and scenarios out of frostgrave proper
« on: October 16, 2015, 09:57:47 PM »
So I was reading over the scenarios today when I was not painting miniatures and the wood in my brain started to burn and smoke with ideas (sounds scary). Anyhow, I was thinking about scenarios where the creatures or bands of whatnot escape from the frozen city and attack the local villages and towns that are nearby. It would be up to the warband to protect not only their base of operations but also the town/ village that they are based in, kind of like a Seven Samurai type scenario.

In addition I would suggest maybe a turf war between rival warbands over dominance over the town/ village. There would be screaming and helpless villagers and maybe even a 3rd party garrison for said place that would try to knock down a warband a peg or two.

Thoughts in regard to this?

Splendid idea if you ask me!

There must exist small villages and fortified inns around Frostgrave where wizards and soldiers go to buy food, gain new strength and hire new muscle for their parties.

I've written a scenario about attacking/protecting a caravan taking goods away from Frostgrave. Yet to try it out though.. Plenty of scope I think for this sort of thing.

The moment you mentioned Seven Samurai is a moment I knew you were onto something - a great idea, there's plenty of scope for these kind of scenarios.

Sounds brilliant. I'd imagine it would be easy to add a handful of town watchmen as random encounters (thugs stats or infantrymen maybe) if two rival warbands are squabbling. Or maybe the town watchmen could be added to the warband if defending against an undead host trying to feast on the innocent villagers, or a cultist raid trying to get their hands on sacrificial victims. Thanks for the ideas

That sounds pretty cool. The Lord Mayor, Sheriff, executioner, town idiot and many others could be major players in a scenario. If it is a small village there could be a local shaman or retired wizard who just wants to be left alone , but when bothered comes out and kicks major butt.

I think what a lot of people are feeling is a "Mordhiemesque" vibe!

The surroundings of Frostgrave have huge potential for story telling. This could be a theme of another official expansion for the game :o

Scenarios like protecting a caravan with gained treasures, pillaging local village, defending wizard base etc. would be excellent and absolutely interesting addition to the standard games.
