Multiple Players
« on: October 16, 2015, 10:41:00 PM »
I haven't received my copy of Frostrgrave yet, so I may be way off the mark with this question. Is it possible to do a multiple player game.... 4-6 players with this rule set? I do mostly historical skirmish gaming, but when I saw this set of rules played on youtube, I became intrigued. I'm actually looking for a good set of skirmish pirate rules, and I see where these rules could be adapted to play out a pirate captain, his/her first mate and a group of cut throats. Thanks in advance for any feed back

Are you talking two opposing forces divided into a number of allied bands or 4-6 rival bands all out for their own gain? If it's two forces then just pick opposite board edges as deployment zones. If it's 4-6 separate bands then it will take more juggling making sure deployment zones aren't too close to each other.
Then each turn just roll for priority and take it in turns through the Captains phase, first mates phase, other soldiers phase and then wandering monsters phase if you include them.
Good luck. Let us know how you get on

Yeah, I've played 3,4,5 player games (haven't actually played a two player game yet), and the general rules and their simplicity work perfectly for that sort of game. The activation phases suit multi player games well as there's a lot of tactical advantage to be gained if you keep your soldiers in activation range of your wiz and apprentice, even if you lose initiative.

As tyrionhalfman suggests, you'll want to turn the wiz and apprentice phases into Captain and First Mate phases, to keep the same feel.
