Many thanks folks!

There will be many games on this board, especially as it's my favourite  ;) :D. As mentioned before, the next game requires the inn and wagon crews so in the next 24 hours or so the board will be packed away as I get on with more GoT minis.

This evening I assembled its storage/transport boxes (modified Tjena cartons by IKEA) and it packs away into quite a small space.

So James, Richard: with the next set of minis done it'll be sufficiently complete and fit to travel  ;)

Ps: just a reminder that later in the project I'll be adding another 6 tiles

I think we need to see photo evidence of this!!!

 :)

So by popular demand, my preferred terrain storage and transportation system for my 30cm sq tiles  :D

By IKEA, the TJENA box with lid, black, 32x35x32 cm (width X depth X height)

http://m.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/art/00263633/

I don't use the box as purchased. I cut it down to 13.5 cm tall (under half height). This size will take a single 'high' tile (such as a cliff section) or two 'short' tiles (such as road straights).

As I have five tall sections (inn, fort, 3x cliffs) all 15 tiles will fit into 10 boxes (5 singles, 5 doubles):

For the doubles, obviously the tiles aren't stacked on top of each other. What I do is take the excess trimmed from the main box and cut it to create platform legs, with the main platform bed cut from the packing card that accompanies the box when bought unassembled in store. The two bed pieces (cut with opposing corrugations) are glued together and to the legs using the Evostik Exterior Wood Glue.

The platform insert upside down:

The platform inserted into the box:

As the single boxes generally contain the heavier tiles, I cut extra base insets from their packing card, which help reinforce them.

I'm therefore spending about £1.75 to protect each short tile and £3.50 to protect each larger one. I figure that the time and effort (and in some cases the materials) is more than enough to justify the expense.

Edited for wrong image link

Ps: don't forget that the short tiles have removable trees (they are plugs)

As an aside: 'TJENA' translates to the 'Hello mate' of the Queens English.

Very tidy, sir.
Much nicer looking than my A4 paper boxes.

I wont show this to the missus, as she may insist that I do the same in future....

If only A4 boxes would take a 30 cm sq tile..... :'(

Seriously?!  Not picked that one up in any skandiTV.  I've convinced myself that if I watch as many gritty dramas as possible, when I eventually manage a trip to Denmark/Sweden/etc I'll be able to make a passable attempt at communication (if I haven't by then developed an overwhelming sense of doom at the dismal bleakness and fear of the pyscopaths lurking on every street corner and instead stay at home tucked up in bed).  :D

The first 15 tiles are now completed.  They are laid out as a 5 x 3 table (with smaller forces I prefer thinner boards) but can be laid out in a number of ways with a mix of some or all.

The overview:

And the close-ups:

(1-5)

(6-10)

(11-15)

(16-20)

(21-25)

(26-29)

And as the best hobby projects are never finished, the six tiles that will be added in due course (I already have the completed village buildings from my WotR project):

The bay will enable a harbour game, such as the locale from which Arya departs by ship, and I have a cog awaiting assembly. However, the next step will be to crack on with the interior of the inn (including adding the door, painting the window frames, etc), adding a few bits of detail to the stable (water butt, etc) and more minis, all of which will be foot (cavalry are some time off).

Thanks for looking  :)

Edit: Well that's a weird one! When I posted this from my PC everything viewed fine but now I look on my iPhone the first and last images have been rotated from portrait to landscape. Strange! And yet in the LAF gallery their icons are showing them the correct way round. Stranger still!!!!

 :o :o :o

Bloody brilliant, mate.
 :-* :-*

It really looks the business, but the real highlight for me is the stonework of the inn: It looks spot on!
The tuftular titivation is superb too.
