'Heroic' 28mm Germans

My soviet platoon is now well towards completion, using mostly Copplestone Neo-Sovs plus some converted GW Valhallans (thanks Dodge)'.

I now need to find some suitable German troops to form the core of an opposition force, so can anyone suggest suitable figure ranges that will scale in with my Copplestones? I don't want many Germans (at least not of the 'normal' human type) - maybe a command group, some snipers and tank hunter and MG teams. Troops to preferably be armed with assault rifles.

One thought was to use Copplestone Future Wars assault troops with SOTR heads (these have worked very well on my Neo-Sovs). But has anyone any other suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion - the Kolony figures are very nice (and I love the new militia heads soon to come out - very Soviet), but unfortunately a bit too too small to use with my Copplestones

Again, very nice figures - a bit smaller than Copplestone but would be OK since they would not be mixed in units with my Sovs. However, Pappa Midnight has done such a good job with his rendition of these that I would prefer to go for a different style, to create a unique unit look of my own.

Try victory force. A couple of mm bigger than 28's and plenty of sg44 and other weapons. What the by kampfgruppe cotterel also have some specials scaled for victory force

Black Tree are a bit bigger than some....and definitely heroic (or ugly to some)...in fact I'll sell you mine!

Bullshott, no figure suggetsions I am afraid, but an observation that I use when dealing with different heights.

I slip a spacer of thin card between the base of the figure and the washer I glue him too. It lifts the figure up abit and It usually sorts out any height issues.

I know its not exactly what you had in mind, but it may help.

Darkson are in no way 'heroic', they are too small and especially too slender to go even with artizan... they will not work with copplestone *at all*.

Well much as I hate to recommend Evil Empire figures, how about GW Steel Legion figs



 or if you happen to be very well off, the Forge World Death Korps figures

Tadportly's got a good idea the steel legion may fit well and won't be too expensive as you don't need many, but forge world are real budget eaters even though they are great looking.

I agree with you though that papa midnight and commander vyper have doe good jobs on their germans , makes it difficult to be original after that.

Steel legion will be cheaper as most people that really wanted Death Korps and made do with Steel Legion will have moved them on (lots for sale second hand, plus lead not resin like the DKK).


Was always going to use steel legion as paratroopers, you never know?
