Frost grave Spell Card Deck Info anyone?
« on: January 09, 2016, 11:32:56 PM »
Has anybody bought and used the new Frostgrave Spell Cards from North Star Figures? http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=7750

I've looked around to see if I can find more than this one picture, details on their quality/manufacture, or a review but found nothing. I was wondering if you guys had any experience?

Top notch.
They picked up (IMO) the best of the fan made decks ....  and made them available at a price I could not even get close too when I had looked into getting these done.
They look and feel great.

You might find more pictures of them on here somewhere ... they were developed on a thread on this forum.... they were made freely available ... not sure if that is still the case since they have been produced commercially???

Highly recommended. I got two Sets in different card sleeves and they are good to use. :-)

Yeah the free version had to be pulled when Osprey picked up the design.

Woah- the price is very rich for my blood- do they add to the playability?

Very solid material, much better than I expected. Also sleeved them up, simply to be able to write 'my' casting value on it, with a wipeable cd/dvd marker. Obviously not cheap as such, but you get 80 cards for that money (81 actually, there's an extra one explaining the symbols used for the different schools of magic).

Do they add to the game experience? I previously used cut-outs fromt he downloadable spell sheet, so that I had a quick overview of all the spells I had, including their full effects (certainly beats having to get your book all the time). These are obviously similar, but better looking, stronger and don't require you to cut 80 rectangles spread over 10 sheets of paper...

I knocked myself up a set based on Audrey's original download and I'm still using them so I can't comment on the professionally produced ones, but the design of the cards is excellent. Clear, easy to read and understand, they definitely add to the game.

I haven't heard a bad word about them yet.

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I bought a set (from Warlord) and I'm impressed with the quality. Like others I will be sleeving these, either in an A4 card sleeve, or individually.

My only complaint with them is they are all the same color, and it's just the little sigil in the top left hand corner that tells you what school it is. Not a big issue, but I like everything nicely ordered so when putting the deck back together after a game it would be much quicker (for me) if the inner face was a slightly different color for each school.

Overall I'm really happy with them and I'd recommend them to others.
