Cool I have a bunch and was afraid the line was at an end
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Interesting. I have the whole range sitting in a box somewhere. What's the background on the Dragoons?

They're mounted militia. By 1675, Massachusetts boasted no fewer than 12 troops of militia horse, totalling approximately 1,900 well-equipped men. Rhode Island also had a cavalry troop and Connecticut maintained a force of 350 dragoons during King Philip's war.

Would the European figures in this range be usable in games representing contemporary campaigns in the West Indies involving British, Dutch, French, and Spanish troops and French and English buccaneers, or are those tall hats too distinctively 'founding fathers'?

These are really nice figures. The character of the individual pieces give them personality.

Gentlemen,

Does anyone have the Brigade Games KPW figures and know how they compare in size and 'heft' to the Indians in the Redoubt French and Indian War range.

Kind regards

I don't have them but knowing Paul Hicks sculpting style for different manufacturers and periods and having some Redoubt indians I think they will be different sizes. That being said: I really like Paul Hicks sculpting style but like my miniatures to be more heroic 28  :?

I have most of the Redoubt Woodland Indians and they are definitely 'large 28mms'.
I don't have the KPW figures, but I do have many, many of Mr Hicks' figures from various manufacturers, including Brigade Games, and they are generally at the small end of the 28mm world. In some case, very small. So I suspect they won't be a good fit size-wise. But to be fair, I don't know that  :?

I suspected as much.

I have many of the Redoubt indians and they will form the indian tribes for any KPW gaming. I'm not sure the Redoubt figures in their ECW range will fit the bill for the period...you chaps have any ideas?

...or indeed what figures 'fit' Redoubt minis size wise for the colonist forces...

...any suggestions for a suitable 'figure size fit' for the redoubt indians to make up KPW colonists would be much appreciated.

Many of the range are wearing Indian leggings and North American specific items. That said there are a number in the range I've been eyeing off for their Sedgemoor potential. The mounted dragoons in particular.

Ive been thinking the same for the Killing Times in Scotland.

The BrigadeGames KPW settlers and Indians work well with Conquest (Warlord Games), Crusader, Foundry and Perry figures - I use these manufacturers for my KPW M&T bands. I even have a couple of converted Copplestone cave 'kids' in with my Indian villagers.

I would think Redoubt and even Galloping Major Indians would be too tall.

Hi Mindenbrush,

I've just been admiring your 2015 Historicon game. Excellent stuff. I, like you, use Muskets & Tomahawks as a preferred system for many periods.
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=87826.0

Question (request)- would you by any chance be able to take a size comparison pic of the BrigadeGames KPW settlers and Indians, Conquest (Warlord Games), Crusader, Foundry and Perry figures please?

I have lots of Redoubt figures that are large....but I'd like to see the physical difference between them and the specific KPW settler figures as these are what I am looking to buy to branch out into KPW.

Here is my comparison shot of a Redoubt regular against the Hicks sculpt Brigade games War of 1812 mini. It's size is ok, just the 'heft' is a bit off.  I'm thinking that with all the clothing, bags, floppy hats etc of the settler figures that maybe they'll sort of bulk out a bit and not look too bad.

Your help would be appreciated.

Regards

Happy W

Excellent!

Thanks for the info on the Mass, RI, and Conn dragoons, too!  Is there a good source to read more info on these units?
