Making a jet ski
« on: November 28, 2015, 12:30:52 PM »
No not a Russian aeroplane, the other jetski.

Started with a very basic shape and slowly added to it... this is the top of the model, it's going to be waterline but it's easier to do the top half first and add the underneath later.

Nice progress - could you take a photo with a figure for scale?

Thanks guys, I'm still waiting for that magical moment when it looks like what it is. I shall take a photo with a mini at some point.

Building up the front.

Detailing the saddle

Checking it all fits together, 34 pieces to the saddle alone...  :o

 ::) Very good.

A bit of work on the back.

More lumps and filling, I've kept the saddle seperate for now.

Aside from the steering the tops done, although I will spray it to check the smoothness of all the surfaces.

Started work on the bottom

You can see the way it will sit now.

Yes although the steering will have to be metal, it'll be quite small.  ;)

Working on the bottom.

With so much filler it's getting quite slow to work on, four hour cure for each fill, etc, So I've started on the steering.

Very cool and thank you for the step by step.  Are you using squadron green putty?  If so where did you find it?

Have you thought of auto body filler?  Thin layers should not heat up enough to damage plastic and you could get it setup much faster.  It would be just as strong as milliput and just as easy to sand.  Just a suggestion.
