9th (Swiss) Division in Russia 1812
« on: November 30, 2015, 01:18:41 PM »
Thought I'd share my latest Napoleonics project which I finally got around finishing. Mostly painted last spring with the last few additions last week. The whole foreign part of the French 9th Division for the Russian campaign. 2 battalions of Croatian light infantry and 11 battalions of Swiss troops with some French artillery support in the form of two 6 pounder batteries and one 12 pounder battery. Having lived in Switzerland as a youth this was really a nice project to do, and getting a new army done that was completely missing from our clubs collections was also nice :)

Most of the minis are from Campaign Game Miniatures with the mounted command figures mostly AB. One ADC is CGM if I recall correctly.

These did sap my energy and painting interest for a while though as I painted most of them in less than two months. Next time I'll know to get some other projects in between as well :) And that will probably be needed as I'll be attempting to paint up the whole Saxon Corps for 1813 next. Anyways enjoy the pics!

Looking great! :) I've always fancied the Swiss red uniforms, especially with the light blue facings.

Thanks guys! The Swiss (and Croats) really do lend some nice variety to a larger French force. Nothing beats a spot of colour on one section of the battlefield.
