The ones that we have been using at the shows we have demo'ed at are as follows:
Do-Gebitē ShrineA priceless artefact has been left in the grounds of the Do-Gebitē shrine. The Shogun would very much like to obtain it, as would some of his political opponents. He has sent his Troubleshooters, led by Mamatu Zaemon, to recover the artefact. His opponents have hired (deniably, of course) a mercenary force of ronin for the same purpose.
The two buntai enter from opposite corners so they have equal distance to cover to reach the shrine. Having recovered the artefact, they must exit from the corner opposite the shrine.
The artefact can be carried by a single figure. However, while carrying it that figure cannot run. The figure can pick up or put down the artefact without any penalty to its movement.
The buntai which exits with the artefact earns 20 On.
There is plenty of cover in the area around the shrine:
Type 1: trees, undergrowth.
Type 2: fences, corners of buildings.
Type 3: buildings.
The shrine is guarded by a fighting dog. It is tied to a length of rope which means it cannot leave the shrine. However, it will attack any figure entering the shrine; if there are multiple potential targets it will choose randomly. Its stats are:
Move 12”, Karma 5+, Armour 8, attack +3, Karma modifier 0, On value 2
Here is our good friend Billy's set-up for this game:
A Very Important PoliticianTosomora Haiyado is a member of the Imperial Court and carries considerable political influence. He is also a gambler with money problems.
The Komosote monastery and the Toyoda clan are currently in dispute. Tosomora Haiyado has offered to mediate – which both sides fully understand to mean that he will favour whichever of them can offer him the best deal.
The potentially corrupt politician is currently waiting in centre of the village of Himeshima. The villagers, ever attuned to danger, have barricaded themselves in their huts. This means that members of the buntai cannot enter any of the buildings.
The two buntai will enter from the opposite centres of the short sides of the board. Tosomora Haiyado will accompany any figure from either buntai once it has moved into base-to-base contact with him. However, he will not run as this would be undignified. Neither will he fight.
A buntai which exits the board with Tosomora Haiyado earns 20 On.
There is plenty of cover in the area in and around the village:
Type 1: trees, undergrowth.
Type 2: barricade, fences, corners of buildings.
