How often do you use game boards

I don't use them but I thought it would be neat to make a fantasy one using gaming pieces, but thought how many times will I use it and will it make my game stale?

Do you mean like 2'x2' boards or plastic tiles?  While I love the look of a beautifully finished table, alone or made of boards...I've never put some together.  I need to carry all of my games in my car, so I still to terrain places on various mats.

I'd consider it for maybe a really hectic urban table?  I do think it would stand a serious chance of becoming stale though unless you had a large number of boards w/ numerous ways to join them.

Lately I've been using a mix of my small gaming mats and (sadly unpainted) Secret Weapon city tiles. I really need to set aside some time to get painting on those. I have various bits of city and ruined terrain to add on top. If I'm traveling somewhere to game I almost never take terrain with me, as it's difficult enough to carry my models without breaking.
