Ship build 17th century 151231 Ship finished
« on: December 21, 2015, 10:41:13 AM »

Hi

When Dan was here in Stockholm we visited the Vasa Museum and I got so inspired that I just had to find my stored away toy ship I got some years ago and start to fix it up for some 17th century gaming.

My plan are to make a Swedish trading ship that was user for the trade and transports to Swedish colonies in Africa and America.

The model is a toy ship from a Pirate of caribbean range that I got on a sale for maybe £10, don´t know what ship type it can be but for me, that are not in to sailing and ships, it looks a bit like a full-rigged pinnace.

It's a great ship.  I think it was marketed with the third of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.  Really a great feature that by removing the rocker bottom you were left with a perfect waterline hull.  I also found and repurposed two of the first Black Pearl marketed by Disney but I'm not sure whether it was released with the first or second movie.  It's really nice too but the hull had to be cut to give it the proper waterline look.  I think the last of the of the Pirates of the Caribbean ships released by Disney was the Queen Anne's Revenge.  It's much larger but with some work I was able to make it work for my 28s.  All of mine were swap meet finds/broken toys.  So I got them cheap.  They are wonderful ships and your project looks like it is going really well.  I look forward to watching your progress... brings back fond memories.  Great project... have fun!  Richard

Those guns are a great find and look better than the Foundry - pity the companies website leaves a little to be desired.

Simply Stunning! That really has paid off and her renovations have made her look nothing like how she started.
