We had five battles this turn during our Beaver Wars playtest. My Erie tribe, which sat out last turn (we have an odd number of players) made up for it with a "bonus battle." The campaign continues to hum along, producing intense games that everyone seems to be enjoying...even when they lose (like me). Twice!  lol lol

Enjoy!

Another excellent report.

Not much luck either. :-[

My luck is notorious in the club. We have actually shifted players around when choosing sides in a battle to balance out my rolling...ha, ha!

This looks super interesting! Are the Beaver Wars campaign rules going to be sold as a supplement at some point or is this more just meant to illustrate the main Songs Rules?

Cheers

They will indeed be sold. It will contain the core campaign rules, a break-out into 3 separate phases of the Beaver Wars, historical background information on the conflict and each of the main tribes that participated, and 18 scenarios.

Our final playtest will finish Turn 7 of 10 this month. Everything is proceeding smoothly and the players are having fun, but I want to finish out the process to make sure none of the mathematics or scenarios need tweaks. Look for it late this year...fall is my hope.

Thanks for your interest, and feel free to post any questions you may have about them...

We had a bloody turn 7 in our playtest of the Beaver Wars in Ohio campaign rules. As we enter the home stretch of the final playtest, things are working out very well.  Other tribes near the top attacked the 1st and 2nd place tribes, seeking to cut away at their lead. Read how the battles turned out on my Lead Legionaries blog. More pictures, campaign rules analysis, and game recaps at:

Check out the intense, Song of Drums and Tomahawks action and battles that went down to the final chop of the tomahawk...

Mohawk forces move up to cross the creek and invade Neutrals territory

One of my players beat me to a report on this past Saturday's Turn 8 action. Things are heading to a tight finish. The tribes are on the warpath -- trying to take down the leading two nations, the Neutrals and the Shawnee.

Here is Keith's report, who is playing the Neutrals:

I will be posting my own report and photos in another day or so...

Another great write up of the games.
I read Keith's battle report, very interesting.
I like how you talk abut the scenarios to make then better.
Can not wait for the campaign book to come out.

My Erie warriors portage their canoe and supplies along a trail past a section of rapids

As promised, here is the Turn 8 installment of our playtest of the Beaver Wars in Ohio Campaign Rules and Scenario Book. We came into this turn with the Shawnee and the Neutrals tribe tied for the lead in control of the Ohio territory. By turn's end, we would have a tribe in sole possession of first.

However, my account this time is more an up close and personal about my battle against the Honniasont when my hunters were ambushed in "Attack at the Portage." I take you inside my Erie chieftain's plan, and talk about how it worked against a challenging foe that outnumbered me 17 men to 10.

Visit my Lead Legionaries blog to read the account and see more pictures. Enjoy!

We met at the local pizzeria for the next-to-last turn of our Beaver Wars in Ohio playtest. Four vastly-different scenarios were fought out, scalps were taken, good pizza was consumed, and players had lots of fun. In the end, the lead for the dominant tribe in the Ohio Valley now stands at one single point! Read about the games and see lots more pictures on my blog post:

I had planned to play another playtest today.
But real life got in the way. :-[

Our final meeting at the local pizzeria -- 10 turns of the Beaver Wars in Ohio concluded!

Hi everyone,

Well, the second playtest of the Beaver Wars in Ohio is concluded. It was a resounding success! The retooling of the rules satisfied everyone. I will make one final tweak as I get them ready for publication (hoping by the start of 2017). Everyone had a good time, and it was a year of good fun once a month as all the tribes competed to control the Ohio Valley in the late 1600s.

Here's the link for my report on the final turn of our playtest:
http://leadlegionaries.blogspot.com/2016/11/beaver-wars-in-ohio-playtest-turn-10_9.html

Lots of other pictures on my site -- check them out!
