Feeling the urge to buckle my swash
« on: January 10, 2016, 05:30:01 PM »
Hi chaps - I've just come into possession of the En Garde rules and it now seems rude not to get a few musketeers. Can the assembled wise people recommend any good 28mm musketeers miniatures? I'd be looking for the main characters, cardinal's guards, Rochefort, Milady - the whole bunch really. I'm happy to mix and match. I know that Warlord do a nice Cardinal and Ainsty have the Four Muskeeters themselves - anything else?

Might I recommend you take a look at the range of 18 mm figures from Blue Moon?  You can get all you need - except the buildings - for a relatively small amount of money.  I have them all, not yet painted, and they are very nice sculpts.  And you get plenty of civilians.  Don't forget, the so called cardinals guard can be used to reinforce for both sides, the musketeers as well as the cardinal's forces.  Fear not the smaller scale!

Redoubt has the most comprehensive range. The figures stand at 30+mm so are not compatible with any other ranges. But they have all you need and are very nice figures.

If you fancy up scaling to 40mm then a eureka has a small range based on the Richatd Lester films of the 1970s, delightful figures.

They're gorgeous. I wish someone stocked the Brigade ones over here.

Go direct to Redoubt. The store looks like a dinosaur, but I always get fast and efficient service.all the way to the US. Fear not! Shipping is not terrible, typical overseas...

That's always got me too, redoubt has some great sculpts that look truly fantastic with the right paint job...but I would never have known that if it wasn't for this forum, if they'd even put up photos of all their minis that'd go a long way.

My son has some of their musketeers and they are rather lovely and characterful minis. Rochefort and the cardinal especially.

I ordered some Brigade Games figures earlier this month direct from the US. I live in the UK. Using BG's cheapest delivery option the figures arrived in 6 days. Plenty of UK manufacturers would have taken longer. The only downside was the cost......
