An AAR of our end-of-year game finally giving the Wars of the Roses figures another run-out.

Excellent battle report and great set up.  I do love the AXOS rules.

Great write up have been wanting to try out some of the Perfect Captain rules - certainly impressive looking, but do seem daunting to get into...

I was trying to get the folk at my former club to play ACOS but to no avail sadly Looks like we missed a humdinger of a set of rules. And a great campaign system too boot- BTW, are you using the ACOP Campaign System?

(oh, just to be clear their lack of interest in ACOS did not make them an ex-club! , We simply moved!) .... :)

We haven't got around to playing the campaign yet. To be honest, we haven't really got a big enough pool of figures. We did use the recruitment system of drawing counters to muster armies once, that worked well but took a bit of extra time, though we shall definitely do that next time.

ACOS is excellent. The daunting part is all the printing involved, there's loads of cards, sheets and counters to print out. But it's well worth it in my opinion. Perfect Captain is also working on  revamping the rules and adding situations for 1463, so hopefully that will happen in the new year.

Yeah, high quality free rules are not to be sniffed at though as I'm sure you're aware :)

We used to use the ECW rules when I was a member of SESWC in Edinburgh and they were excellent!  8)

To be honest I don't know what the current club, Durham, uses for the ECW/TYW at the mo'. Might be an idea to introduce them!!   ??? :D

We've played 'Ironbow' and 'Strongbow' as well, both of which were excellent. The Perfect Captain rules do an excellent job of capturing the flavour of the period concerned, right down to the pre-battle sacrifice in the hoplite rules.

However after you left Perry plastics forced me to paint nearly 400 and JimL got the rules printed. Played a few games, love them.

Am I right in assuming the name of the battle is in reference to a recently-deceased rock legend?

If so, I can hardly think of a more fitting tribute than legions of metal-clad men bashing each other stupid.  :)

If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!
