Help with OOP Guthrie Miniature Appraisal needed
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:16:59 AM »
I am trading away a pair of these J. Guthrie Trolls to a LAF'er

and we would like to settle on a fair price but I have no idea what that would be. I've looked around online but haven't found any for sale or sold. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

I got mine from an ebayer at a price of £3 (very roughly $5) each. I picked up a 716 pegasus for just £3.99 (a bit over $6) recently, though these are of course British prices in the British market.

Looking on ebay.com, I see that someone's selling a single "not a rat-ogre" from the 712 pack at $8.99, not that it's actually sold. So I'd personally suggest that a fair price might be somewhere between five and eight US dollars.

You're clearly a lady of formidable will - I could never let mine go, I love 'em!  lol

About 5 US$ each for an unpainted single one would be right. Painted up I'd say 8 for the pair would be fair, but I wouldn't part with mine for 20$ each, to be honest  ;).
Don't know if they are still being cast by Mirliton / EM4Miniatures / Forlorn Hope or any other Grenadier mould owner. Could be worth to check that out...

I fell in love with this range a few years ago (little story about that, but maybe for another day), and I've set myself the tricky goal of collecting all the Guthrie Personalities. While the 800 and 8100 series were picked up by other companies following the sad demise of Grenadier (including Emperor's Choice, Mega Minis and the ill-fated Center Stage), it seems the 700 series blisters dropped right off the map back in '94 and were never seen again.  At least, not so far as I've been able to tell.

Peculiar but there it is.
