Black Death movie on BBC iPlayer
« on: January 07, 2016, 08:41:35 AM »
Presently you can see the Sean Bean movie Black Death on BBC iPlayer.

To be honest it's not in my top ten Medieval movies but it's OK and a good yarn (for a film).

I realise that this might excite folk wjo have access to iPlayer and frustrate those that do not so my apologies in advance....

BYW, Mods, I wasn't sure where to post this(?). Maybe it would be better off in Medieval News?

Darrell.

Yeah, best Warhammer movie, ever, imo.

An enjoyable film! Features one of Sean Bean's classic death scenes.

EDIT - And surely that can't be considered a spoiler... He dies in almost every film he appears in right? And a film set in a dark medieval setting, he's OBVIOUSLY gonna have a death scene!

Sharpe being the exception the proves the rule, despite taking several mortal wounds and surviving...

I saw that movie on Netflix a couple of months back. Not overly impressed, but I will say that Sean Bean's death scene was worth watching. Ironclad with James Purefoy was better, even if it felt like a direct rip of of the Seven Samurai by Kurosawa.

I remember being very excited about this when it first came out a few years ago - and quite disappointed when I saw it.
But then, hey - it's Sean Bean, Sheffield's finest export. Prince of Gondor; Napoleonic hero; Bond villain: Medieval mercenary - you always get exactly the same Sean Bean. And yes, he always dies  lol (Although I never followed Sharpe back in the day... Didn't he survive in that?)
